Personal:

I am married with 3 lovely children 26, 18, &12and a dog named Koda and a cat named Blue.  Love to run and be outside.  I believe that if you think you can do it and you work hard enough any thing is possible.   Life flashes by in the blink of an eye, enjoy it while it last and remember there is a lot more to life than running. I coach high school swim and love it!

I went up to visit Ericka in Seattle and I ran this half it was a hard course on trail and it was hot thus the slow time. I did enjoy it until the last 2

I like this race just wish they could start on time, started 40 minutes late. Solid race for me at this stage in the game. Had a hysterectomy in March so this is just a build back year.

I’ve had my best and my worst races on this course. This was not my worse but almost! Who knows why we can prepare for something so well and the body just doesn’t want to do want we want it to on race day. I for prepared to run a 3:30-3:40 marathon but I never really felt good. After running Veyo I was shot. Heat got to me bad. It felt like a very painful death march from 13 on calf’s were very sore and crampy. So disappointing but I have done enough of these (33) to know some are good and some just are not. Who knows why. Maybe I’ll do this distance again maybe not. I don’t love marathons like I use to.

When I got older, I switched to the halves. Less time on your feet, but still a challenge. Better for your health, I think.

Sasha is 100% correct I think. Unless you have a very specific body type, marathons are not sustainable over the long haul if your intent is to actually race them. Congrats though!

Decided to do this race the Tuesday before the race because why not! I've always want to do this distance but never thought my body would handle it but after having a hysterectomy in March I'm not in constant pain and I felt good after the marathon. My strategy was fuel early and often and I did. I thought I could do somewhere between 10-12 hours but really just was in it to finish. Started in the 6 am group of mostly men and just ran at an easy pace.
Miles 1-20 where pretty uneventful except lots of potty stops which is unusual for me
Miles 20-30 where good but boring had a good time getting to know runners and crews
Miles 30-40 where up hill and brutal I thought I was going to have to walk the last 15 because my ankle was so locked up from the steep uphill.
40-45 where surprisingly good but was fighting side aches so couldn’t go faster than I was
45-50 i stopped for water and ate some food at 45 and stretched my arms above my head and that made me feel like throwing up. Sat and fought that for a minute or so and continued on through wave of nausea. The last mile and a half are an out and back it felt like the longest 1.5 miles of my life! But I finished and felt very happy. My crew was amazing I had only met them that morning and couldn’t have asked for a better crew. It was a husband and wife with their 8 yo daughter and 3 month old puppy!! They were amazing

Great job, especially for a "what the heck" race!
