1st place overall womans in Spanish fork 1/2 marathon, Tristate 1/2 marathon, Death Valley 1/2 marathon, and the Utah Valley marathon (4-12-08)

Run a sub 3 hour marathon and have a blast doing it.

Personal:

I am married with 3 lovely children 26, 18, &12and a dog named Koda and a cat named Blue.  Love to run and be outside.  I believe that if you think you can do it and you work hard enough any thing is possible.   Life flashes by in the blink of an eye, enjoy it while it last and remember there is a lot more to life than running. I coach high school swim and love it!

Woke up to the crows of Roosters, which are all over the island, that and cats.  Got yo to a beautiful sunrise and went for a run along a great 6 mile long  Beach path. Absolutely amazing but very humid. 

Went to the very north side of the island to Haena and hiked the Kalalau trail to a small secluded beach. Pretty rough trail with amazing views.

Up early to go on a boat tour of the entire Na' Pali coast. It was a good day so we where able to do the summer tour which is way cooler than the winter tour. Saw whales with babies, seals, spinner dolphins, and got to snorkel and saw fish, turtles, and a shark.

Went for a run along the beach path. Found a little secret beach that we later went back to called Donkey beach (2nd right past Mike 11). Tried swimming in the acean but the waves where way to big I lasted about 10 mins

Did an easy run with the last 2 faster because I felt great. Went and found a great little waterfall called Hoipi falls that the locals go to. We going it by just knowing the name of the street you parked on. Cool hike to get to it. That night we saw a bunch of whales jumping out of the water. So awesome

Ya I've started this new strength program with Carina that makes your body engage the core and glutes together. I think I was just lifting to heavy in the dead lift and it aggravated my old injury. I just need to take a step backwards and probably a good chiro adjustment would help.

Tempo again down the canyon. I kept the pace at MP because I'm still hurting in my SI's and left hammy but it's getting better. This time warmed up SF 2 miles then turned and did 4 miles @ 7 avg then 2x2 miles on the flatter down stayed 7:15-7:20 because any faster would hurt.

Feeling tired and sluggish, I just seem to getting slower and slower each week:( oh well I guess it's age. Tired to tempo made it 4.5 miles and I was just beat. It wasn't even fast either. Then just ran 7:35 avg pace

Racing changes the older you get and with life. My life has been very stressful, I work a lot now, my dad passed away a couple of weeks ago and my husband fell off a roof and broke his hip. My training has suffered and my mental game is nonexistent. Janae got me a free bib so I said why not. Climbed almost 800 feet in the first 4.5 so that really put a damper on my time. Stomach was sloshy so I got side aches which is no fun and slows you down but I didn't really care about a fast finish time I just wanted some good downhill which I got. And it was a beautiful day!

sorry to hear -- those are all big, stressful/sad events, and it certainly takes a big toll on running. i hope your husband is recovering ok.

it's nice that you could still get out and race and enjoy the beautiful day. that canyon is so pretty and peaceful, esp after you get over that big little mountain. :)

Woke up at 4 to drive to Ogden for the striders half, it was 60 and nice at home. The further north I got the weather got worse. It got so bad that you could barley see and was very scary to drive in. Almost got to Ericka's and she called and said it was cancelled. Oh well it was kind of a relief, I've been tired and I didn't want to try and run fast in that weather. Drove back home with white nuckle grip and ran from home. It was a struggle

Yoga with my mom

I've decided not to run Ogden marathon, my body is not handling the training. My ankle is acting up and I can't go back to that injury so I will take the next couple week real easy.

My running this year has been plagued with injuries so I've biked a ton. I'm feeling much better and picking running back up so I've started the long road back and hopefully I'll be able to race next year. Since I haven't been able to do a marathon I decided to do a century ride because I've always wanted to. I loved it despite my 3 flat tires, so much less painful than a marathon and easier to stay on top of fueling. I'll do it again!

Yes, a century is fun. And the fueling--the ones I did had full meal stations every 25 miles!

3 flats! That's insane. Mental tenacity just to see it thru.
