Personal:

I am married with 3 lovely children 26, 18, &12and a dog named Koda and a cat named Blue.  Love to run and be outside.  I believe that if you think you can do it and you work hard enough any thing is possible.   Life flashes by in the blink of an eye, enjoy it while it last and remember there is a lot more to life than running. I coach high school swim and love it!

Excuse my lack of knowledge of snow etiquette, but why would someone shovel their walk? I assume you're talking about the sidewalks that run parallel with the street. Are they supposed to do this as a courtesy? Generally sidewalks are built in the right-of-way and not on people's properties anyway. Just asking. It never snows here.

It is a courtesy but also law to remove snow on the sidewalk surrounding your house. Not sure how much it's actually enforced.

I had this grand plan this morning to take my son to preschool and go and do 4x downhill mile repeats. On the way I rear ened a super nice boy and smashed my radiator so I had to take my car to the shop so I just ran from their. Luckily I didn't do anything to his super sturdy bumper and he was so concerned about me and kept asking if it was his fault (it was clearly mine, my foot slipped off the brake twice) then he gave me a hug and checked my car out and said I needed to take it to get checked. Man I love nice people (he reminded me of Cam).  Anyway I still did some mile repeats, not as fast as I had hoped but I got them done. 6:14, 6:09, 6:09. Then I had to book it back to the car place to get my son so it was a tempo effort back to the car, about 3.5 miles. Oh and in the beginning of my run I ran into Marie so I ran with her for a couple miles. Crazy morning!

1:45:31/7:39 I can't wear my HR monitor because it gave me a huge sore so that is healing

Tara & Josse - You are both SO capable of this goal. Don't think of it in terms of holding that pace for 26.2. Just think of it in terms of adding 1 single mile to that tempo each week. And remember how mental it is. If you start believing in it now you are much more likely of executing it. Okay Rachelle is stepping off her soap box. :-)

Long runs have been a struggle for me lately. That being said I still got out there and ran 19.5 miles at an 8:00 avg so I should not complain. Today's run was in memory of Meg, she was hit and killed  last year running. I feel lucky to be able to run even if it was hard. First part was with Rebecca then we picked up Janae and ran some more then we dropped off Rebecca and ran up the canyon then I dropped off Janae and had 1/2 mile to make it 18 some how in my tired stuper I did 2 more.

Tuesday workout- 4x1 mile down the canyon with a 2 min active recovery back up the canyon. Did them with Janae and Marie was there for the 1st 2. Wu 3 miles up the canyon then turned, felt good on these, Janaes goal was 6:20-6:30 but we were faster on all of them. 6:18, 6:13, 6:11, 6:14 then cool down a couple miles.

Drove up to the bottom if SF with Rebecca, Mac, Amber, Aubs, and Rachelle. We ran to the top then back down got on the path. The path was covered with snow so after about a mile and a half we got on the road until BVF then got back on the path. First long run in a while I have felt good. Foot is bugging me a little bit, I think I just need to keep my miles between 45-50 it seems to do good in that

Met Rebecca and amanda at vasa and ran over to do the MTC mile backwards so up hill, did that 2x then the temple mile then the last one 8th south hill so 4 total. My foot is feeling so so. I have had dr Bennet and dr brady work on it as my own daily therapy and it didn't hurt but was a little sore after. I feel like I've been set back 2 months with it, where it's not bad it's still there and a worry and I'm back to doing daily care for it:( oh well thus the life of a marathoner.

Foot felt great! Met Janae at the soccer park, we ran up the canyon 6.4 then turned and did a 5 mile tempo @7:03 avg pace, 35:15, then easy the rest. Felt pretty good but was tired by the end.

Today was awesome, going into it I didn't think I was going to feel good. Janae and myself warmed up 4 miles up the canyon and then turned and did 5x1 miles with 2-3 min jogging rest back up the canyon. It is Janaes birthday today and she wanted an easy long run in the sunshine:) so of course I was on board! I live this girl and we are just right on point with our running so long run on Friday in the sunshine was great. My legs were tired from the past 2 days but pace was not the focus so it was fine. We did a loop with Marie up the beast and 7.4 miles then I changed my shoes and got some fuel in me and me and Janae did an out and back up the canyon.

Was faster on the ones I ran with the girls, they where doing different workouts so on some I would have them and some I would not.

This goes down in history as one if my worst feeling half marathons. My quads where cramping at mile 2! I felt like the last miles of a marathon by miles 6, I knew I was in trouble and wanted to stop and be done but I still needed a long run so I gutted it out with a side ache the last 3 miles. I never get side aches! I was sad and disappointed that my body failed me so early on and so bad... But I do know this happens and I do know I am capable of a sub-1:30 right now.  Did  a 2 mile wu and a little over 4 mile CD where my feet cramped the entire time. Looking back my electrolytes were probably way off.

Doesn't sound like a fun day. Sorry it didn't go better for you. I think you're right that your fitness is there for sub-1:30; it was just one of those days we all have every now and then that are really hard to explain. Shake it off and keep moving forward.

I needed a redemption run, this could have been a disaster because I do feel that race but it also could be good because I'm marathon training and the legs are use to doing workouts on tired legs. Melody wanted to do 4xmile downhill and I haven't done these mile repeats in about 6 weeks so I was up for it. We did RC 2x and MTC 2x I felt decent on them, was 6:02, 5:56, 5:49, 5:54 all with about a half mile uphill recovery that didn't feel like much if a recovery! I am happy with this workout:) just in case anyone is wondering Melody was light years ahead of me between 40-50 seconds on each repeat. She was on fire!

Met Marie at 12:30, my plan was to do a 3, 2, 1 mile progressive tempo run starting at MP and get faster. My legs have been trashed from the tues tabtia workout (lots of jumping stuff holding weights) it killed off my legs more than I expected. I also made the mistake of eating to much food before the run, I thought I had enough time but my lunch was in my throat the entire run. It was miserable. So I did the 3 miles @MP (6:50, 6:47, 6:47)and called it good. Marie was there for 8 miles then I added on.

8 miles in the MC with no watch wish I could say I  felt good but I didn't. Blood work didn't really help much. I was hoping it would say I was enemic or something that would explain why I feel so bad and have no energy. iron was normal but I had elevated iron % but just slightly. I did say I was dehydrated but could that be the reason for feeling so lousy? I guess I'll work on it (I already drink enough water) and hopefully I start feeling better.

This is not my year for racing:( I have no idea what is wrong with me... It was the same as last race and my speed work lately my right quad gets this charley horse like cramp and it just feel like I'm running with a completely dead leg. This starts around mile 1 so it was a very miserable race. This whole thing is a mistery to me. I'm trying to get my electrolytes up as well as taking calcium, mag, potassium and extra salt. I was hoping that I was going to have a good race and felt good in the 1st mile but it just hits me like a train and their is nothing I can do to relieve it but slow my pace down. I am very frustrated and wish I could find answers but the medical world is clueless as well.  I did have a fun cool down with Amber and my sis, ericka. And I got some new PearZumi shoes that I absoultey loved

My legs are burnt toast but that's how the life of a distance runner goes. I did this same workout a month ago aftet having a bad half so why not do it again? I did them faster last time but still did decent times. Met melody, Julie, and Melanie at TV warmed up 2 miles and then did 4xmile downhill with 1/2 mile uphill rest (which doesn't feel like a rest) RC 2x 6:01, 6:07 quads really dead/tired so have no push in them, MTC  6:04, 6:12. Then back to the cars

I'm getting slowe and slower:( my legs are so tired I'm ready for a break. I need to remember 12-14 weeks is plenty of time to train for a marathon....not 18! Ok that said I met Amber to do the downhill repeats, my quads have nothing in them no push and my ankles are sore. We did TV 6:10, RC 6:15, and MTC 6:08.  I really hope my legs get some life in them to run a half way decent marathon-meaning 3:10-3:20. I would be happy with that

Changing your form is frustrating stuff..50 mins on the  bike followed by 3 miles of feeling like I don't know how to run. I don't know what's happened to me to make my form so off. Did barefoot strides and that felt good, nice and fluid. Maybe I'll just become one of those crazy barefoot runners. Who thinks I can run a sub-3 marathon barefoot?? Not me

Oh man I feel totally out of shape. Did the bike for 50 mins and then met Marie at MV did half mile barefoot on grass then we did a loop. I was dieing to keep up. 8:17 avg pace it is crazy how fast it goes. Ankle did okay I think the kinvaras work better with the new inserts I got, they don't fit very well into the zumis

Did yoga with my mom then ran with Marie 3.5 and finished with barefoot strides on the grass. It was cold and raining so my feet got cold but it felt good to run fast, barefoot in the grass. Ankle is up and down yesterday it felt great and is a little more sore today but that is how injury healing goes.

Went and did the free Memorial Day 5k knowing that I am so out of shape but wanted to see where I am and work in form.  Ankle is still bugging me but getting better (I hope). Run by myself, can feel ankle after 3 miles. Spin 40 mins

decided to go to Dr Fraizer to see what he thought about my ankle, he said my tendons are not supporting my ankle and need more time off to heal. This make most sence to me because of the weakness in the ankle. So that's what I'm going to do and hope things heal up. I was sad but today (Thursday) I'm ok with it. It's just a repeat of last summer and bums me out to miss out on summer running. Next year I'm not training for a spring marathon so I can enjoy summer running.

Yes end if feb, I sprained it in the late fall and then when I started training for Boston it started to hurt and got really bad by race day. It's feeling lots better but it's taken me stopping running to get some headway on the injury.

Biking HIIT 

ankle is feeling a lot better. MRI results say no joint damage which is what everyone else was telling me, what a bunch of a** holes! I have a small tear in my peroneus brevis and longis and some fluid is the tendon sheath. Which is what I thought all along, I have been wasting time and money on treatment for the joint and my joint is fine. I should have got an MRI to begin with.

Yeah being injured is no fun at all. My advice is stay positive and worry only about what you can control, not what you can't. There were definitely times where I questioned if I would ever get back to where I was before. But if you stay positive and convince yourself you'll come back stronger, I believe that you will. I'm cheering for ya!

I've taken almost 5 weeks off and for the most part I feel like my injury is healing and I'm making progess, it's slow but still progress. I am planning on taking as much time that is needed, I've been told at least 3 months so I have 2 more months

8 weeks off and I miss running most of the time my ankle feels good but I still feel like it needs more time off so I'm taking it. Biking up the canyon with the 1000's  of others that go up the canyon on Labor Day.

I am so hesitant to make goals because I've been sidelined the past 2 years with injuries. But I do want to do a half ironman in May, hopefully run some fast halfs again and get to a starting line of a fall marathon injury free.

I actually feel pretty good. I plan to keep my miles low through the winter so my ankle can continue to get stronger and I hope one day I can return to the trails. I would love to do some trail racing and maybe an ultra but I don't know if my ankle will ever handle that again.

Glad to hear you are doing better. Have you ran a trail race before? I'd like to do some shorter and longer ones, but I am itching to get back on the road again for some fast stuff.

Do you wear ankle compression socks, like Features? I'm sure you've tried a lot things. My ankles have gotten better on the trails than they ever were on the road. Not sure why.

I have done the Wasatch and Jupiter steeple chase and lived them but I just miss running on trails. I haven't tried anything yet for my ankle but I probably will come summer time. I just know my ankle wound not survive another sprain. I'm itching to race fast again too.... I hope this year I can get my fast back.
