| Went to the gym today, started on the elliptical only because there was no treadmills open. Did that for about 10 mins before a tm was open then ran for 4 miles and pool ran for 40 mins. Sciatic pain is better, still there but better. Went to Marv yesterday and my right hip was higher than the other. Can I tell you that I am so sick of this. I don't even care about running that many miles, I just want to be pain free and maybe run 40 miles a week. That isn't asking to much is it?!? |

| Went to the rec and did 5 miles on the treadmill, felt awful, heart rate was really high and the sciatic hurt a little. I think I am just going to not run for a while and just cross train. This makes me sad but this thing is just not getting better. Pool ran for 20 mins with my son he doggy paddled next to me and we had races. He is quick so I had to work hard to keep up. | Went to the gym today, didn't feel that great. No morning sickness yet just tired and don't feel good when I get hot. But I ran 2 miles on the TM, 15 mins on the elliptical, 35 mins of pool running and 6 laps of swimming. I felt a lot better in the pool because it kept me nice and cool. Sciatic is not bad but can feel it just a bit, also feel stuff in the hammy and adductor on the same side. I have had that along with the sciatic I think they are related, like brother and sister. |

| Went to the gym and did 30 mins on the elliptical and then pool ran for 50 mins. I figured out how to get your legs to burn in the pool. You act like you are sprinting as you push backwards with your arms (like you are pushing into a wall but with action). This makes it twice as hard to make yourself go forward. This made my leg burn as if I where doing sprints, I have never felt that pool running. It was great. | |

| Did 40 mins on the elliptical at home, did not feel good at first. I couldn't go hard at all but after about 25 mins I felt better. Still just went easy. I am almost 10 weeks and have gained about 3 pounds. Not to bad, I was reading last night about other women and their weight gain and most had gained about 10 pds. by 10 weeks. |

Started at home and did the elliptical today then went to the gym and pool ran for 45 mins doing sprints. Lifted lower and abs/back. I think that I will not run for the rest of the week seeing how I haven't yet and I am leaving to Colorado tomorrow so I won't get any in tomorrow. Maybe this will help me finally get over the injuries. They feel great when I don't run. I do miss it, but the only thing I really care about is that I get some sort of exercise in and I am able to do that so I shouldn't complain. I could complain about other stuff but I won't:) | |

| Went to a wedding in Colorado this weekend. I started to cramp and bleed on sat. I went to the Dr. today and they could not find a heartbeat so I got an ultrasound and some blood tests. The ultrasound showed the baby at 6 weeks 3 days so either the baby died then or I am no as far along as I thought I was. I will take another blood test in 2 days to see if my levels are going up or down. So I am not very up to working out, just trying to stay positive, which I am having a hard time doing. Oh such is life. It has to all come at once, when it rains it pours. | |

Did the elliptical for 40 mins and then took my son in the jogger for 2 miles and walked .5 Still feel stuff in the hamstring grrrr. I am seeing Dr. Brady soon, I really want to run it makes me feel better. Went to Dr. Brady and he worked the hamstring and adductor real good.

Leg feels good, not 100% but lots better. Then after running I went to the pool and pool ran for 45 mins. Just under 30 mins for the run not as bad as I thought I would be. |

Started the day early, I am not use to that anymore. When my alarm went off at 5:45 I couldn't figure out why I set my alarm. But quickly remembered I was meeting Michelle for a bike run combo:) I went and pick up my sis and she was have tire issue, but I told her to just bring it and we will change her tire after we run. Well her tube was impossible to get off and we broke her tool that helps her get it off. So she wasn't able to go on the bike ride with Michelle and myself. We started with the run I didn't want to go anymore than 3 miles. My hips are sore from getting used to the pounding. Then we hopped on the bikes for an hour plus ride, it was great. I thought I would freeze but only my feet got cold. Had a good ride. Did yoga with Ericka when I got home.

| Went to the chiro and got a massage yesterday, feel beat up. Day off running, went to the pool and swam for 6 laps and pool ran for 45 mins. Then lifted lower and upper, abs/back. I really wanted to run outside but I stuck to my guns of taking the day off. |

| I was feeling a little discouraged last night, left SI was just throbbing and both shins are sore. I am just so sick of hurting. So this makes me mad at my orthotics, this is why I didn't want them. Every time I get them they seem to make my problem areas worse! So I don't know what I should do, I have been using them sense Nov. so you would think my body would be use to them and I am really not running that many miles. I just don't know?? I met Ericka and my dog today for a nice little run. We started together and ran the first mile and a half then I pulled ahead. I turned after 3 miles, was tired on the way up but felt better on the way back. Then we came to my house and did some yoga and I finished with 40 mins on the elliptical. Went to the gym and started with 30 mins of pool running at an intense pace. Then I swam for 15 mins and finished with 5.5 on the TM. I want spring back. PM-30 mins on the elliptical. I was feeling a little pudgy so I wanted another workout. I still have the weight on that I gained when I was pregnant for that 10 weeks. It just wants to say around. Met at Sasha's house and ran with Carolyn form Co. we had a good run and a nice chat. Came home and did 30 mins on the bike. 8:45 avg. pace. was tired form the 2 workouts yesterday. yoga and abs/back My inside of my shins are killing me, again I blame it on the orthotics. This seems to happen after wearing them for a while. I went and bought some moldable inserts from soft sole and I am going to use those for a while and then transition to nothing and then maybe transition to 5 fingers.

| I scraped my calves last night as well as my upper legs. And I didn't run with my orthotics this morning my back and calves don't hurt as much. In fact my back feels better than it has in a while. I wore the soft sole inserts. I met Carolyn again at Sasha's house. My intensions where to run easier than yesterday but we ended up with an avg pace of 8:33. I brought my dog and he wanted to run faster than me the whole time. Later I went to the gym and pool ran for 50 mins and swam 5 laps. Then lifted lower and back. |

I was tired starting up the jogging path and it took me about 3 miles to feel good, but I did feel good on the way down the canyon and I wanted to do 10 but thought I would not be a good idea to go from 6 to 10 mile. I made it 10 whole miles today. Met in SF and ran with Allie and McKenzie. Good run, was a little tired and struggled on any little up hill that came along. It was snowing most of the run, but the great company kept my mind off it most of the time. 8:22 avg pace came home and did abs/back and stretched really good. Could feel that left SI/sciatic but feels better after stretching.

Wasn't sure how this would work (haven't done anything fast for about 6 months). I started kind of half hearted but after the first mile I thought Hey I can do this. | Oh it is absolute paradise here in Hawaii, we are staying at the J.W. Marriott Ihilani, it is super nice and has a beautiful view of the ocean. We have our own little private beach and a short 1.3 mile path that runs along the beach in front of the hotel. I ran on that and extended further on the road and looped back on the path again. Very nice weather ran in shorts and tank at 6:30 am. Then went to the gym they have here (this is the nicest gym I have ever seen at a hotel) and did 20 mins on the spin bike and lifted lower, abs/back. Now off for some fun in the sun:) 49:54/8:14 |

Spent the day in the ocean on the East side, found this cool beach over there and drove back through the mountains. So beautiful! I went out on the little path along the beach but this time when it ended I hooked onto the road and went into some neighborhoods and on a dirt path for a while and turned and came back the same way. A little tired. Today we are going to hike to some water falls and check out the big surf on the north side:) Aloha 51:48/8:20 We went on a super duper gorgeous hike to a water fall then went to the top and could see both sides of the island. Got super muddy, it had just rained. It looked like a tropical rain forest. The hike was 6 miles round trip, we were out for about 3.5 hours. This is why I would rather run a trail, I probably could have done it in an hour. But I really enjoyed being with my husband. Oh how I love this!!

Ran this morning along the beach and then up on the streets in Ko Olina. Was tired from the hike yesterday but managed to run the last mile in 7:03 but only because I wanted to catch some guy who thought he was faster than me. Then went and lifted lower/upper and abs/back. 57:48/8:15 I think we are going to head over to the North shore today. So we ended up going out for a kayaking trip, man is that hard in the ocean against the current. We went 1.5 miles out to this island called Mokulua islands. It was really pretty and very tiring I am so sore in the arms and traps. North shore is on for tomorrow.

Another 7 miles today, man was I tired. Hot and humid makes you sweat like a pig. 58:52/8:25 Went over to the North shore today, we liked this the best so far. We went to Haleiwa a little town with that old Hawaii charm. We ate at a place called Haleiwa eats the best food on the island. Recommended by Golden H. Actually we ate the best food all day over on this side of the island for dinner we went to blue water steak and shrimp, a RV park on the side of the road and then after we went to Ted's bakery and got some haipu pie very tasty. We did some shopping and then went to the Sunset Beach and watched the surfers. Stayed there most of the day and then went to another beach just up the road where you could actually swim. Huge monster waves over on this side of the island. I think we will go back over to the North side again tomorrow, we quite liked it.

| Up early again this morning to meet Luz. I really love running in the morning I am just not use to it. But it was a beautiful morning. I really enjoy running with Luz and bringing my dog down to run along the river. This morning my dog got in a little accident that about scared me to death. Right along the lake, on the other side they have a barbed wire fence to keep in cows and horses. Luz's dogs are used to going under this fence but mine is not. He jumped over just fine but trying to jump back is about twice as high because of the hill on the other side. He got caught up in the wire and did this back flop thing. I thought he was about to hang himself. I was a little hysterical, but he was fine except for a cut on his hind leg. I had to show him how to get under the fence because he didn't want anything to do with it. I don't think he will try that again. 1:12:44/8:49 |

Met with Luz with my dog and ran on the path. Nice morning, her dogs didn't come because one of them had a thorn in her paw. Saw Matt on the trail, he turned and ran with for a mile or so. | Met a friend at the pool, she is a really good swimmer and gave me some really good tips. A lot of times lap swimming makes my SI joints hurt but her tips helped a lot. She went to the OT in swimming in 2001, she is awesome. Swam several laps and pool ran for 30 mins. | |

First race I have done since SG marathon last year. It was awesome, really I was sucking air but I am fine with that. I think I did just fine for the shape I am in, I was hoping to do flat 7's but ran out of juice on the uphill section. I will post more later. So I warmed up on my own a little and then saw Jamie and we warmed up some for a 2.5 mile warmup. Then the race I felt really good the first 3 and then kind of lost it in my legs, but all in all I was happy. 1-6:35 Wow I can run that fast still! 2-6:57 Another sub-7 shocking. 3-7:16 Oh ya I am not in that great of shape and can feel the up hill. 4-7:31 Opps focus Josse 5-7:09 Ok a little better Then I ran some with Jamie, then saw JulieC and Melanie and ran with them for a couple of miles. And some running on my own and the last 2.5 with Luz and blurry vision. Through this whole run I keep thinking to my self, I think I have started and sure enough I did. Glad I was wearing black. MV

I was pretty sore yesterday, but it is mostly gone today. I didn't run this morning because my son was throwing up most of the night and is not feeling well. So I just got on the elliptical for 30 mins and the bike for 15 mins. I might try for a run later when my husband get home. Abs/back pm- went out around 3 pm and it was hot. Because I am not use to 83 degrees I felt awful. But glad I got in a little run. I got into SG, the trick is just don't even care if you get in or not. I was hoping I wouldn't and just do top of Ut or another late summer marathon. But SG it is.

| Got up and met at Marie's house, Melody and Marie's friend form SL was there as well. We ran north and got on some trails. Melody turned before we went up cause she is running Ogden on sat. I was tired on the up hill and had a hard time keeping up, but was not to far behind and stayed right along on the down. Man I am tired! My son is still sick, he felt better yesterday and then he spiked another fever last night and was up a lot. I got up and ran because I knew he wasn't going to school today. I was tired, I ran really easy with my dog. Took my son to the dr. he has strep, glad it wasn't the swine flu:)

Got up really early (had to be back early for my husband to go to work), debated on going back to bed. I was up at least 5 times last night with my son. The antibiotic he is on made him have to pee a lot, I was really worried about him to so I didn't sleep much. He went to bed with a fever of 104.5 but it went down to 101.1 by 2 a.m. and was normal by 5 a.m. I decided to go out and see how I felt. The first mile was rough and I thought it would be another 5 mile slow day, but I felt better the longer I went. Went 7 on my own and 2 with the dog. Saw something kind of strange, this guy probably in his late 40's, dressed nice walking at 5 in the morning with a garbage bag full of popcorn. I just think that is weird, I wonder if he was on his way to a movie or something. 1:17:32/8:33 Yoga (it made my arms sore)

Got up and met with Luz and the dogs. We had a nice run on the river trail. 55:57/8:45 My daughter had a Medievil fair today it was a lot of fun. They had World Champion Jousters come and do a jousting. To begin each jouster chose a maiden to give a rose to, my daughter was chosen, she was really happy. It was really neat. After I helped her run her gems and stones booth and sold jewelry that I had made and stones. Then we had a big banquit with lot of food. Good day:)

I am spent, it seems like I have been tired all week this means I need a recovery week. Which I am happy to take next week. I hit 50 miles so I think I deserve one. Met Mckenzie at the 10 mile mark of HC half and we ran up the canyon 6 and back down followed the half course to make it 15. I was dragging the last 1.5 and told Mac to go ahead. We still avg. an 8:42 on the way up and about a 7:40 on the way down. Good run but glad I get to cut back next week. 2:02:25/8:16

| Met Marie early at her house and we head to the trails, I brought Brune with us. We did the stairway which is what I usually do but I usually drive up the paved hill leading up to the trailhead. We ran it because we started from her house. This made it for 2 miles of steep uphill. Good run legs a little dead after the up but was able to cruise on the down. | Got up and met Luz for a run with the dogs. Perfect morning to run, felt decent. Afterward we got in the FREEZING COLD river. It hurt so bad but made my achey legs feel great. Fun!! 8:40 avg. pace. Later did 16 mins on the elliptical. So I have this nagging want to run the Utah Valley marathon, I tell myself everyday no your body is not ready. And then I tell myself you can just run it for fun, you know how I did it last year. I have that sickness marathonitis. Really it is real, so I thought I would try for a 20 miler and see how my body handles that and then decide. I know I am crazy. I go through this daily in my head. |

So I am left with mixed feeling after today's run. It was hard but all in all I did ok, but was super tired at the end. Legs just felt tired form the begining. I was wondering if I was going to make 15, but after about 7 they started feeling ok, but shoulders where all crampy and tired the whole run. So I met McKenzie at Wills and we met Julie on the trail and ran up the canyon. Julie decided we were to slow for her and took off, I would have to if I were in shape. So it was me and Mac, we saw Paul and I called him Tom opps, sorry. Then when we started up South Fork Mac pulled away from me. She also kick my behind on the way down. I think I stayed with her until about Canyon Glen I just couldn't hold her sub-7 pace. but I did manage to stay under 8's from 12 on, with 3 being pretty good. Miles 13-7:08, 14-7:11, 15-7:25 and then I pooped out but not bad. I stopped and got a drink with 3 left and saw Julie again, was happy to have someone to run with again. Then she turned at the mouth of the canyon for home so last 2 on my own again. I don't think I want to put myself through a marathon yet. But I think this every saturday and then during the week I think well maybe I would do just fine.....I don't know. 2:31:33/8:13 Ice bath ok the shoe counter is doing something weird, it is counting my mileage as double. There seems to be more people when we come back. | I had a pretty good run today, I didn't feel the greatest but the pace was good. Met Julie at her house and we headed to the canyon and ran up to south fork and back. We took it fairly easy on the way up and ran a quick but managable pace on the the way down, was still able to talk the whole way. The spits on the way down where 7:23, 7:07, 7:13, 7:06, 7:09, 7:35, 7:36 with the last two being up hill. Then we added on another mile to make it 15 to her house. Then I went down to the river and added on another 1.2 before I got in. I could have gone further but I had to get my son form my sisters house and I wanted to ice in the river too. | Hard day Met at Julie's house and we ran to Marie's to pick up her and Melody. We headed to the mouth of the canyon and ran up to canyon Glenn. Starting at the mouth we pick up the pace then turned the the pace dropped because of the slight downhill. We also had a run in with some long boarders. Who where making very difficult for the bikers to get by so Marie nicely ask them to stay to one side. Right after that they almost had a run in with some bikers and she said see guys (which were actually girls) you need to stay to one side. They gave us the bird. I wanted to go and tell them that we are only looking out for the safety of them and the bikers and not to be so bratty. Teenagers! We almost caught back up to them but couldn't quite get there. any ways here are my splits 7:49, 7:53, 6:55, 7:14, 7:20, this part is up hill from the mouth of the canyon up the 800th north hill killed me, 4:41 for .65 (7:11 pace) Ran the last 1.5 on my own from Julie's house. I am going to run UVM but like last year just for fun, I probably will not have the same results as I did last year though. 1:25:26/7:47

Decided yesterday to run the nestle 5k to see where I compared to last year. I was thinking I would run in the 21-22 range so was pleasantly surprised to finish with the time I did. Met McKenzie early for a good 6 miles warmup, running the course. The first mile is a hard one as I was remebering form the year before. Any way I was not sure how much I would be into this. 1-7:00 Trying to stay sub 7 but this has a killer uphill in that hurt my legs and I am just not a fast starter. 2-6:33 Started thinking to myself there is only 2 more miles so I really have to start to work if I want a decent time. Pass a ton of people. 3-6:33 Just glad I was the same. .1-36.85 (5:22 pace) saw the clock and realized I could make it below 21 and sprinted my guts out. I didn't have it on running time so i had no idea. Really happy with this. Cooled down with Mac and Sue on the course backwards. 2137 registered runners, not sure of placing yet.

Happy with my time I was expecting something between a 3:20 and 3:30 so I can't complain. I did well until about 20 and it was kind of a death march after that. Just glad I finished with a half way decent time. will write more later. Once again I think Hyrum pulled off another great race. And this year it was even more impressive because there were 10 times the runners than last year. I don't know if I like this years course better or not. There are some parts i do and some i didn't. I would give it a 7 on a scale of 1-10, only taking points out because I hated the end and some of the turns. I liked the airport part from last year. But most people didn't so what do you do. On to the race details if I can remember them, I sleep pretty good. Woke up at 4:05 and ate some cheereos and drank some hammer drink. My friend Julie came and got me and we rode the buss together and hung out at the start. We only had about 30 mins to wait, which went fast. My plan for the race was to run how I felt. I felt really good in the beginning and paid for my fast miles in the end. But I am happy with my time and had to see.... We are off and Bang (he couldn't get the gun to work so it went off after we started). 1-7:43 2-7:06 3-7:15 4-7:15 5-7:44 uphill section felt fine. Michelle is hear cheering. 6-7:20 7-7:14 8-7:20 9-7:25 10-7:19 feeling good still but can tell the end will be a struggle. See Ericka and Mel here. 11-7:25 12-7:42 13-7:34 knew I started to fast but maybe just maybe I can hold on half way 1:37 and starting to feel it oops. 14-7:28 15-7:36 slowly but surely starting to loose it. I have pitchers to document to torment on my face. 16-7:41 17-7:49 18-7:50 at this point I want to be done but I can't give up because my kids will be waiting for me at the end. Got up and met my little group of girls down and vintage park so we could ice in the river after. Me and Melody went a little bit before everyone got there and then we all went on a loop from there. Didn't think I would get out today, my husband is gone but my lovely sister came over at 6 am so I could go out. Now it's her turn. Just did an easy out and back form my house by myself. Felt better than I did all this week but still not the best. For some reason I feel kind of like I have anxiety only when i run, I can't breath very well and my heart rate feels super high. I have no idea why? Sciatic was there at about 7.5 but not bad. 1:23:14/8:19 Hope I start feeling better this summer is flying by and I would like to start training hard.

HAPPY 4th OF JULY, my favorite holiday:) Got up early to take my kids to the hot air balloons. Came home and pick Ericka up to go measure out the course for next weekends "training run" started with running the end of the course (2.25 from the bridge at the mouth to vintage w/one loop around the park). Then drove to the mouth of the canyon and bike the second half of the course. Pretty uneventful on the way up until I got to the turn around spot and fell over, couldn't get my foot out of the pedal. Then I was trying to spray paint an arrow and sprayed myself. Then riding down my reflector came off and was making this awful sound, I thought my spoke had broke. We make it and I took Ericka home and then went and ran some more from Vintage and then got in the river, the time goes by slower when you are by yourself. Didn't feel that great, but not to tearable on the 1st run and felt better on the 2nd run after the bike. Felt great on the bike, maybe I'll switch sports;) The weather stayed pretty cool. 7:50 avg pace

Got up and met with the Orem girls. Ran on the canal, was tired and felt yucky. 8:21 avg. pace abs/back and biked for 20 mins felt good biking. I got my blood work back from the Dr. She says everything looks great except my blood sugar was very low. She asked me if I had been fasting, which I almost never do because it makes me crazy. I said no and in fact I had just ate lunch. So she said I am Hypoglycemic, which I have wondered for years but just have never been tested for. So I just need to really focus on my diet again. I felt the best I have ever felt eating like I did last year, so I just have to buckle down and recommit to perfect eating again.

| I met with Rebecca this morning for a bike ride. I ate a nut bar and a banana and think that really helped. Rebecca is an animal on the bike and I really had to work to keep up and then at 7 miles I told her just to take off. We went up South fork, I was about a half mile behind her. We rode together the whole way down, it is easier to keep up on the downhill. I felt decent for how hard I was pushing. Then I came home and pushed my son in the jogger and had Brune as well. I was tired but it was from the biking and not lack of food. I fell again on my bike, I just can't get my feet out in time. And I was freezing! Biked 24 miles in 1:33 mins |

So this was a fun little event if I do say so myself. Got some good marathon pace work which I wanted and I felt decent, except my SI joints hurting. We started at the mouth of the canyon and went up about 5.5 and then back down past riverwoods and turned up and finished a vintage park, a really good course:) I went into today's run thinking I would feel like crap so when I felt half way decent it was a super big plus. My back started hurting about mile 7, and I started to really feel it at mile 12 but Tyler pulled me along to the finish. I ran fairly easy with McKenzie and Julie until about mile 4 and they stopped and stretch and then I ran with Kelli's husband ( Scott ? I am bad with names) until the turn around. I stopped for a good drink and then went on my way. Started with the marathon pace stuff on the way down. Finished the race and had some fruit and went back up for my friend it was her first time going this far. So I add on more mileage that I wasn't planning on doing but I am glad I went back she needed that little extra boost. FUN DAY!! splits 8:16, 8:03, 8:05, 8:09, 7:57, 8:40 (water break about 1 min.), 7:07, 7:00, 7:10, 7:24, 7:25, 7:39, 7:46 The path was torn up at the end so that was kind of a slow down and it cut just a bit off the total distance but my garmin had it at 13.07 so not to off. Got in the river after it is still very cold.

I had generator problems (my daughter sleeps with a bipap so we needed a generator) the first 2 nights plus late nights and early mornings I didn't have it in me to run. But I finally got in a run on the beautiful trails. Went up to lone pine and checked out the beaver ponds. |

| Got up early to go run on the trails. I went out the way we went up to the sunrise hike, only when I heard some sheep I decided to go run around the lake a few times. There had been a bear that had killed 3 sheep the day before so I thought it best if I didn't go up that way. Come to find out they had killed the bear the night before. But better safe than sorry. I had a really good time at girls camp, tiring but fun. |

Did a tempo run today, met Melody and Julie at vintange and warmed up 2 miles up the jogging path. Started the tempo 2 miles up the canyon and 2 miles down, I quickly fell behind but could still see them but my watch was saying I was only running an 8 min pace. I felt pathetic, finish up the the up hill with my watch saying I was only going 7:48, 7:39 and 7:30, 7:00 on the way down but I don't think my watch was picking up satilite properly because both the girls watch said over a min per mile faster and I wasn't over a min slower then them. In fact on the was down it took my watch over a half mile to get under an 8 min pace. This did make me feel a little bit better. They avg. 6:40's going up and 6:08's going down so I figure I was no more than 30 seconds behind them so about 7:18, 7:09 going up and 7:00, 6:30 coming down. Met up with a great group for this mornings group, which included Melody, McKenzie, Aurbry, Kent, and Shawn. We carpooled up to the 3 mile mark of Hobble creek half and warmed up 3 miles to the start (25:48), then took a small drink/potty break and ran the half course with every other mile hard starting with an easy one. I had a great run, here are my splits. 1-7:16 had to remind the girls that this was an easy mile 2-6:32 3-7:11 4-6:23 5-7:23 6-6:38 took a drink break towards the end of this mile because we had water stashed. 7-7:13 8-6:44 starting to feel it 9-7:30 10-7:02 11-7:55 12-7:31 didn't really kick it into gear on this on I was deep in conversation with Kent. 13-7:49 total time 1:33:05/7:15 with ending up with 12.9 for the distance most of my easy miles I would lap because everyone elses garmin would beep before mine. Any way good run and gives me some confidence that I didn't have before. Left leg was bothersome at the end but not bad.

Got up and ran the cc loop by myself. Felt pretty good after the first couple of miles. Fall is in the air the temps were nice and cool:) 1:01:45/8:33 plan for the week is to get 59 miles of running plus some crosstraining.

Met with Melody and Julie at vintange. We warmed up 4 miles up the canyon and turned and did a 4 mile tempo at about 1/2 marathon pace. I felt all right, could still feel saturday's workout in my legs but not bad. Goal was to say under 7's. 1-6:47 2-6:54 3-6:57 Julie and Melody stopped at this mile, I went on and they decided that after a little break they could keep up with me. 4-6:50 27:36/6:52 Was happy about this, still have a lot of work to do but it is a good start. cooled down 2 miles and got in the river. Got up and met with Melody and Susie, had a nice easy run with them. Was going to be done at 5.5 came home and decided just to make it 7. If I plan out a week I have a hard time cutting it short. 1:00:18/8:31 bike and elliptical both for 20 mins.

| Got home form a youth conference late last night so getting up was hard. I started at from my house and ran to Melody's to meet up with her and Julie. Melody ran 4 with us and turned back, me and Julie went further up the canyon. The weather was nice and cool which I was so glad because we got a late start. First couple of mile I was dragging and wondering if I was going to make it 15. But started feeling better after 4 miles and was able to hold a 7:15-7:30 pace for 7 of the miles and felt pretty good. Was going to do a full 20 miler but body was feeling not to bad so I was done, I don't want to aggrivate the sciatic and was starting to feel it some. Good run 2:32:11/7:57 |

Well I don't know what to say because of course I would have liked to be faster but in reality I think I ran good for the lack of training I have had this year. Â So I think I can be happy with my time. Â The race started 30 mins late and it was warm which was an issue for me at the end. Â I ran well until about 10 miles and then it was a gradual body shut down. Â splits 1-6:37 2-6:34 3-6:33 4-6:20 5-6:45 6-6:47 7-6:53 8-6:49 9-7:15 10-7:01 11-7:40 12-7:31 13-7:45 .1-:44Â Finished just pooped, the last 3 were extreamly hard for me, it was hot, legs didn't want to go and mentally I was done. Â Â PM-Was feeling somewhat frustrated, just because I gave up at the end so I got on my bike for 30 mins. Â I figured I needed a cool down, I didn't do one after the race. Â Worked things out in my head, yes I am still frustrated but I really had nothing in my legs in the end. Â I only have 5 good week of training behind me. Â Only 6 weeks till SGM I don't know about this?

Got up and met Melody and Rebecca at vintange. We didn't really feel up to a tempo so we went and did some major steep uphills instead, um what where we thinking. Leg where tired and burning on the uphill but did well on them compared to the last I ran this hill. | Met Mckenzie and Aubry at the salem church and ran to Kent's to get him and Shawn. Very quickly Shawn and Mc took off and I stayed back with Kent. We ran harrys hill and that about killed my legs and that was only at mile 8, we still had a long ways to go. At about 11 miles I took off with Aubry and we ran most of the rest together, except at the end I was lagging behind. Ran by myself today after my kids went to school. Wanted a good MP tempo run but wasn't sure how well I would do on my own with tired legs. Warmed up about 3.5 and started running hard up the canyon which didn't feel great so I turned and did the rest headed down Provo canyon and finished passed Will's. Had a really good run. Met McKenzie, Kent, and Shawn at the hobble finish and drove up to the 3 mile mark for a warmup. Then ran to course with the goal in mind to run at least 10 good marathon pace miles. Ended up running great through mile 10 and then thinking I was done pick up the pace more and more as we got to the finish. Ended up running the course in 1:30:39 faster than the race 2 weeks ago, I just ran a nice even pace and was able to speed up on the harder section of the course where I slowed down. | Camped up at Payson lakes this weekend so I went for a run up there. Very pretty, ran out on the road with my dog. Went up from the camp ground about 3 miles and then went around the lake. Didn't have my watch but I was out about 1:20 mins or so so I figure I had to at least get in 8 miles. |

Ran 6 miles early with Melody and Julie, easy loop from vintage. 48:54/8:09 After kids went to school took my dog on the trails for 6.5, felt good. Went and sat in the river after for a good soak. I quite like breaking these runs in to two, I end up feeling better on both the runs. I have all ways just got my mileage in one shot because it worked better for my schedule. Met Mckenzie and Kent at the 10 mile mark of hobble creek half and drove up the canyon. We were going to go up the side the race comes down but it was closed so we went up the left fork. This turned out to be a good choice anyways because it is rolling instead of strait downhill so more true to the race (SG). Warmed up a 3.25 miles and turned and started with the fast stuff, it went like this..... 1-6:39 2-6:27 .83 recovery 7:42 pace 3- was broken up into half miles because we stopped for a quick drink. .5-3:17 .5-3:05 1 mile recovery at 7:25 4-6:27 and then got another drink at the golf course. .89 recovery at 8:00 pace 5-6:51 this was mile 8 to 9 on the course with all the little steep uphills in it. Then a mile to the cars was pooped and just ran it easy. Felt good about the workout. 1:30:42/7:33

| Oh man what a run, I met with JulieC and Melanie at Grovecrest el. and Julie's hubby drove us up Provo canyon and dropped us off just below the dam. We ran on the road until vivain and got on the path until the mouth of the canyon and headed up 8th south into Orem. Then we got on the canal for the last 6 miles. Started out just fine but by mile 5 my vision started going all burry and I was not feeling well. Thought to myself hu I wonder what is going on, took a hammer gel and ran on. My vision continued getting worse and I wasn't able to see hardly at all. Around mile 13 it started to get better just to come back worse and with a mind splitting head ache. I finished and was sicker than a dog. I just wanted to lay on the grass and not get up. But I went and got in grove creek with the girls and dropped Julie off at her house. Was very nauseous on the way home, grabbed on of my son's through up cups and ended up using it and stopping and up chucking for a good 5 mins. out my door. Came home and stayed in bed until about 3 pm and had to get up to go to a wedding. I don't think I have ever been that sick, I have come close after marathons but this was bad. But I still ran half decent considering. Had 9 miles that were 7-7:30's and most of the others were below 8's. 2:17:52/7:39 |

| Met McKenzie, Kent, and his friend at the 10 mile mark of Hobble and drove up to the same spot we did last week (left fork). Did a 3.6 warmup up hill and turned for a good marathon pace run. Started a little fast but the first mile is more down hill than the others. Did 3.4 and had a drink break and then started the next 3.35 really easy and worked into the pace. After the first set my vision stated going wavey/blurry again and had another pounding headache by the 2nd water break. Was sick when we finished, came home and ate some pretzals and layed on the couch. Thought is was going to last all day but about half hour later i started feeling better and ate a sandwich. | I was able to run hard today and not get lightheaded or sick. I use some drops called prolytes (a performance electrolyte drops) which I liked and Accel gel, which I have tried in the past and like because I has protein in it. I was tired today though, leg just had that dead feeling to them but still ran decent. Had 7 miles that where 7:08-7:20's with on being 7:48 on a complete uphill section. I ran with Kent and Mckenzie out in Salem and SF, flat and rollers. 1:56:15/7:45 |

I wanted to go up in the mountains but decided after last time (I twisted my ankle) not to go up there. But I wanted to run on the dirt with my dog so the canal was perfect. Met Mckenzie and Kent and his house in Salem, we warmed up a mile and a half and started our super duper spectacular 8x800 workout. I felt decent on them and felt like I was stronger on the last for than the first. We did them on the road which made some downhill, some uphill, and some flat or rolling but far I think. 1-2:53 downhill to flat (rest time 1:57) 2- 3:03 Slight down to flat (2:18) 3-3:09 flat with slight up at the end (2:24) 4-3:30 All up hill felt it (1:17) 5-3:03 Downhill to flat (3:10) 6- 3:04 flat (4:26) 7-3:00 flat push to stay with Mckenzie (3:27) 8-3:05 flat to slight uphill and we are done:) Good workout and went faster than I had planed. avg pace 7:29 |

| I wanted a pr in the 5k today but after seeing the course I knew that would be though. There is a lot of up hill in it. So I just ran hard enough to make my throat burn and keep Maryanne in sight. The course starts with a very short downhill and then about 1.25 of a really good climb, then another short down hill and then more uphill for some and then rolling. Ending with about some down and then a good climb to the finish. Whew it wiped me out. splits 1-6:37 2-6:49 3-6:48 .15-00:55 Warmed up 3 miles and cooled down 4.4 |

| Woke up at 4:30 to scary weather and decided I would not go out in it then. By the time the kids went to school the scary weather had turned to just bad weather so I went out for and easy run with no watch. The run reminded me of SG last year with the wind, rain, and cold temps. |

Oh where to start, it was a spectacular day for me:) I got a new pair of shoes that I decided to wear in the marathon because I was feeling the miles in my old ones in my back and sciatic. This turned out to be a good thing and had no problems what so ever from it. I got a good night sleep and didn't really feel excited or nervous at the start. I had decided before hand that I would go out conservative and run by how I felt and not pay attention to splits esp. during veyo and dameron valley. Now usually this marathon seems like the uphills never stop but today they seemed like little bumps and the downhill I felt like I was flying. It was surreal. I think I had a permagrin on my face, I felt fabulous for most of the marathon. Used a glu flask and started taking it around 6 and then every 4 or 5 miles I love it. Also took two IB and sports legs about an hour before. Ate a banana and whole wheat PB and honey sandwich along with my drink before and added the prolytes to my water and my gu flask. this all seemed to work just great. 1-7:38 2-7:45 meet up with Kent and Kristine and ran with them for a while 3-7:14 still just running easy and not breathing hard at all 4-7:10 5-7:12 (36:59) 6-7:17 potty stop 7-7:02 8-8:14 Feeling really good but this is the determining factor for me, how I feel through this section and it usually zaps me. So I really monitored myself and made sure I wasn't breathing hard. I didn't once look at my watch either through this next uphill section. Was surprised to look back and see I ran up veyo this fast. I got to the top and recovered fast and felt good but still want to run within myself through Dameron valley. I lost Kent and Chrisine here and never really ran with anyone after this. Passed a lot of people though. That felt great. Started to feel my sciatic but never really bothered me that much. 9-7:45 10-7:37 (1:14:54) 11-7:59 12-7:34 At this point I felt like I was having an out of body experience, almost like something was pushing me and saying it is time to go. So I did and felt so super duper spectacular. 13-7:05 (1:37:32) I hit the half way at a high 1:38 and was not worried at all. Passing lot of people wow this is awesome. 14-7:06 15-6:39 I dropped my gu flask and had to stop and go back to get it, but didn't slow me down to much just made me mad. 16-6:32 (1:57:49) all the miles where just flying by and at this point I was thinking only a 10 miler left and I felt great. 17-6:54 18-7:01 19-7:29 Winchester hills didn't feel to bad on these, I usually feel aweful and expected to feel worse 20-7:08 (2:26:21) 21-6:42 22-7:24 I did feel the hill in this mile but felt like I still was recovering nicely 23-7:19 (2:47:46) I got a side stitch in this mile and was pretty mad because I really was feeling good and thought I could slip in under a 3:10. I concentrated on my breathing and it went away about a half mile later but I couldn't recover my pace at that point. 24-7:24 25-7:38 (3:02:48) Starting to have a gradual break down. 26-7:55 Trying not to fall apart completely. .2-2:00 Was very pleased I felt so good throughout the race and finally got below that 3:15 mark and get a pr with only 11 week of training. Now for a break!

I am surprised I was not that sore after the marathon, SG usually tears my legs to pieces. I think sunday night was the worst and I think I was more sore after Hobble Creek half than this. But still want to take it easy. I went out in the cool morning sunshine with my dog. Felt good. Came home and stretched and did abs and back. I counted up my marathons I have done, I started in 1997 with SG and have done 17 total. I did St. George in 1997(although it was not under my name ran a 3:46), 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2005, 06, 08, 09- Top of Utah in 2001 (first time running a 3:15 and was 7th overall womens) - Tucson in 1999 (first time having a BQ with a 3:29) - Boston in 2000 - San Diego RNR in 1998 (this being my slowest and only 4+ hour marathon) - Ogden in 2007 & 2008 - Utah Valley in 2008(this one being very memorable because I won) & 2009. Things that I think work for good marathon training- Regular stretching and core strength training, consistency, cross training, massage and scraping, easy days easy and hard days hard, marathon pace training, sleep and good eating, and not doing to long of training cycles and getting burnt out and injured (16 weeks max).

Warmed up just under 4 miles, feeling pretty good and felt like I was going to run a good 5k (which would be under 20 mins for me). The race starts right by the byu track and goes east up hill for about .6 of a mile and then has a good downhill section before flatening out and finish on the track for just under a lap. I felt fine until the last mile and then I don't know what happened. But I was disappointed to say the least. Just to let you all know that the race started 1 hour late, I was running in a costume that was very confining, and I felt pretty aweful the whole race. But I did have parts that I had fun and it was fun up at the start hanging out in the lodge and chatting with people. It was a cold morning so I didn't venture out for a warmup, just started the race. I was feeling like my fuel and fluids where gone and the water stops where no good for getting water, the cups where bad and the cold made it hard to hold on to the cups. The first 4.5 where a steep down and then you have a little bit of up hill before you get on the path for a nice gentle down hill. 1-6:09 2-6:06 3-5:59 4-6:20 5-6:42 6-7:24 I felt the worst through 5.5-7. I wanted to stop and be done, really I did I saw my mom and almost turned back and got a ride. I feel like I am running a 10 min mile and am a little light headed. 7-7:34 8-7:12 starting to feel better. 9-7:22 10-7:17 See JeffL and was glad to have him to carry me in. 11-7:27 12-7:31 13-6:54 I am not disappointed because I felt pretty bad and thought I was going to end up running a 1:40 so a 1:30 was a lot better. *update-so it looks like they didn't get Mary ann in the results so that bumped me down a spot ending up with 5 place overall and 2nd in my age group.

I started at Will's and ran 4.5 up the path then turned and did 2 miles at tempo 6:55 and 6:52. Couldn't get my pace any faster my legs just wouldn't so I ran a mile and then did one at MP which was a 7:25. This is all my legs would do, which was just fine. 1:10:52/7:54 |

We meet at the mouth of Provo canyon and ran down to the lake and back. I was tired the whole way from the half last week but I felt good on the way back until the last mile and my body shut down. Start at the mouth of Provo canyon and ran up 4 miles easy, then turned and did a 5 mile tempo at half marathon pace. Starting out I just wanted at least MP stuff but felt better than I thought I would so I went faster than that. Ended with a mile cool down back to the canyon. Went with my husband for a romantic gettaway with a marathon in the middle. I pulled it off to be successful and did not spoil it with getting sick or being tired after:) This course was super tough and Clyde wrote a summary of the course that I stole. I slept well the night before and probably didn't get up early enough before to let my food digest and had a few problems from it but not bad. Miles 1-6 do offer some of the best, gradual downhill you've ever seen. Not too steep, no turns and perfect for letting things rip. The only downfall to this part is that most of the time the wind blows against the way you'll be running. This section I felt good, I ran with Rebecca and had a good time. I just let all the leading ladies go and ran my own race. The wind was not blowing which was nice and it was not cold which worried me. Miles 7-9 is almost flat but uphill (like .5 or 1% grade) out across the Joshua trees. took a potty stop at the top of the hill at mile 9 still feeling good 9 drops down a steep grade into the town of Bever Dam, AZ (this marathon will take you through 3 states... Ut, Az, Nv) then it is flat 10 is flat until it climbs out of the river bed and up to where you go under I-15. The wind starts up through here for a couple of miles. 11 mile mark is really close to I-15 and it starts a really, really good climb of almost a mile. 12 is basically flat with a few rollers... maybe 1% total gain here. 13 Same as 12 flat and rolling 14 Really steep downhill (like Bryce Canyon) for most of the mile and then flatish at the end 15 solid rolling hills (IMHO very hard to hold it together through here) 16 Another tough climb of almost a mile. Very, very tough but I can see Marcie and Maryann up ahead of me and I am gaining on the two of them. 17 More rolling on this mile 18 Finally a flatter mile through here 19 Flat mile until the last .4 then up This up was hard on me I was feeling good and catching Marcie and passed her but she passed me right back. 20 Steep downhill for about .7 then flat (this is the mile you come right into Mesquite City) 21-26.2 Are all mostly flat with some small grade here and there as it winds through the city to the finish. I felt good at first through this section and then I felt really bad, my quads stopped working and calfs were cramping. A lady passed me and 24.5 and put me in 5th place and I couldn't get her back. But this was a vert tough finish. I am happy about the race, of course I wish I could have held it together in the end (I lost about 5 mins in the end.) But I was only 6 mins slower than SG marathon and I expected to be at least 10 mins slower. Did I say this was a super duper tough marathon, a lot of hard uphills. 1-6:30, 2-6:31, 3-6:36, 4-6:37, 5-6:40, 6-6:52, 7-7:00, 8-7:10, 9-7:13, 10-7:21, 11-6:59, 12-7:59, 13-7:58, halfway 1:32:33 (my goal was to run a 1:35 when I realized I was running this fast I slowed a little. I was thinking I could five myself 8 mins on the next half and still get a PR. Little did I know my legs would give out in the end), 14-7:36, 15-7:27, 16-6:58, 17-8:08, 18-8:27, 19-7:42, 20-7:37, 21-8:17, 22-7:37, 23- 8:26, 24-8:33, 25-8:41, 26-9:00 this last mile was tough most of it being a slight uphill, .33-2:46 Brune went for a run with Aunt Ericka and had a joyous time.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING Got a massage last night, felt sooooooo good. Got up around 7:20 and ran over to the start of the orem t-day 4 mile run (the course is completely flat), wasn't sure if I would make it but they were a little late starting. I found Melody and Julie and told them good luck. My plan was just do the first 2 miles and then go watch the finish. I did that in 13:19 (6:38, 6:40) and was glad I wasn't doing the full 4 miles cause I was done. I ran to the finish and took some pics for someone who asked me and I was making my way to the finish. Melody and Julie both ran well, Melody lost her shoe and had to go back for it and ended up 4th. I think she would have been 2nd if that wouldn't have happened. Any way I ended up driving my step-dads car home because he said I was over doing it. So I just came home and did 15 mins. on the bike and 10 on the elliptical.

Took my dog up on the snow filled trails. It was slow going esp. when the show got to my mid calf area. It was fun though my dog loves the snow and it doesn't seem to slow him down at all. Went to the Orem fitness center for a run on the TM, another chilly morning that I didn't want to go out in. I wasn't sure how far or fast i would go today so just started running. It felt good to have sound footing and to go faster too. I did a 2 mile warm up and then did 2 miles @ 6:45 pace and then 1 @ 7:15 then 1@ 6:45 and the rest between 7 and 7:30's. | Ran on my own today, the temps were a lot warmer than they have been but we got plastered with snow last night. As we all now I have a hard time in the snow. I debated on going to the gym to use the treadmill but just decided to go outside. Two days in a row on the treadmill didn't sound fun. Any way my pace was all over the place because of the snow and lack of people who shovel. My high points are I got to run this year and had a PR in the marathon on limited training. I have learned I run the best on lower mileage (60 mile a week compared to 80). Got to run with great people, and run lots of trails with my dog (I am missing that with the snow).
