I wasn't sure what to think of this race. I had had a sever stomach ache the night before and still had pain in my upper left quadrant (think my gallbladder is going bad). And I really had not thought about this race and wasn't in the mood to race. But I just thought I would go for marathon pace training run. Woke up at 4 to feed the baby and get to the busses at 5. Rode up with Mckenzie, Frank, Michelle, and Aubery. We warmed up 3 miles up and down the canyon. The race started 34 mins late due to broken down buses, thats what you get for using busses from the 70's. But we started none the less. This coarse is up the left side of Hobble Creek and not as fast as the other side, it is rolling down. But I like it. 1- 6:31 a little fast but didn't feel that way 2-6:56 start with the rollers 3-6:58 feeling good and relaxed 4-7:05 5-6:48 6-7:00 7-7:04 8-7:21 start on the path which is a killer, I didn't like the transition onto the path you had to go on this dirt path and go down this super steep down. I like the road better through here. I was running by myself in most of this race. no one in front of me and no one behind me, well I didn't really check but I couldn't hear anyone. 9-7:18 Didn't fall apart as much as I usually do through 9 and 10. I was prepared for this cause me and Michelle talked about the fall apart at 9. 10-7:12 11-7:11 out of the canyon and just using people ahead of me to keep me going. Pulling them closer and able to pass. 12-7:21 Feeling tired and hot and I know that last mile is going to be hard, but I still am passing a bunch of guys that are in front of me 13-8:05 I was tired, hot, and falling apart. I stopped at the water stop, which i never do and lost my sub-8 pace and just couldn't get it back. But the guys that I pass don't pass me back .1 6:34 pace Only cooled down bout a half mile. Was tired. Emailed the race directors to try to get a spot for SG marathon, we will see in a week.
