Personal:

I am married with 3 lovely children 26, 18, &12and a dog named Koda and a cat named Blue.  Love to run and be outside.  I believe that if you think you can do it and you work hard enough any thing is possible.   Life flashes by in the blink of an eye, enjoy it while it last and remember there is a lot more to life than running. I coach high school swim and love it!

I really didn't know what to expect this morning, I had been up at girls camp the past couple days and was tired plus my foot is bothering me and the drive back and forth really irritated it.  When my alarm went off at 4 i really didn't want to get up, but I paid for this race so I rolled out of bed and got ready quickly and was out the door.  I decided to take some fish oils for my foot for the inflamation, I don't like to take IB to run on but that probably would have been better.  The oils made me sick durning the race, plus just being overly tired I had a horrible race.  I wanted to be done at 9, my legs were shot from the steep down hill (I have decided I don't like these super steep down hill starts they trash your legs and make you feel like crap for the finish).  I wouldn't let myself completely give up and had some help in the end.  1st I saw my friend Amanda and she ran with me for a mile, that helped me forget how awful I felt.  Then somewhere around 11 I passed Smooth and she said some words of in encouragement, I couldn't show her I wanted to quite so I smiled and ran on.  Then somewhere in the last half mile Jonathan C came along with his 1:35 sign and passed me.  I really didn't want that so I speed up and out sprinted him at the finish.  I felt mad and defeated when I finished, I know we all have these kind of races and am OK with it.  But just wish I would have felt better so I could have gotten a better time.

Those early downhill miles really make the last few miles of a race tough. You did well considering the week you had. It was nice seeing you at the finish.

more commentary on mile 9! haha. i am glad it wasn't just me -- it felt awful. i agree that the downhill was just a bit too much in the beginning. these downhill races can really beat you up. nice job on staying strong and holding off the 1:35 group. it was great to see you yesterday. i hope your foot is okay.

yes mile 9 sucked, i was actually not feeling so bad after seeing how other people felt about the race. I liked the hobbler half so much better, while it is still down hill in the beginning it is not super steep and has rolling. My foot does feel better today.

Josse good job! I'm sorry about your foot. Nothing feels worse then coming out of the canyon and hitting flat/hilly ground. You did great!

hey cheer up sometimes the opposite happens as you are well aware (YOUR UVM FIRST PLACE MARATHON FINISH :D). and sometimes a DNF happens just cause LIFE gets in the way. I guess it just makes us work harder for that great day when all fits together at the right moment. : D. all in the NAME of training.

Sorry you had a bummer race, but doing anything after being at girls camp deserves a medal of its own!!! And I hope you were not burping fish oil the entire 13.1 miles, YUCKY!

It was great to see you sprint past the 1:35 sign at the end. And you actually looked very happy so at least the picture will be cute!
