Personal:

I am married with 3 lovely children 26, 18, &12and a dog named Koda and a cat named Blue.  Love to run and be outside.  I believe that if you think you can do it and you work hard enough any thing is possible.   Life flashes by in the blink of an eye, enjoy it while it last and remember there is a lot more to life than running. I coach high school swim and love it!

So I am on the stake sports commity and they asked me to put a team together for this 5k, so I did.  I had no idea what to expect with a 5k because it had been so long scence I have ran one (I think the last time was cross county at UVSC in 2001) MY only goal was to not hurt myself.  The course was true to cross country style, on grass, which made me nervous because of my ankle but it did fine.  The course was long 3.25.  My team won as well.

1-6:57 was worried I started to fast and would die in the end, chicked some guys

2-7:08 felt good, chicked some more guys

3-7:04 felt ok, chicked one more guy

.25-1:42 (6:46)

A good start.

Average pace on my garmin was 7:02

Good job! You reached your goal and got your first tempo run in too!

Thanks it was fun. My main goal was to see how many guys I could chick I think the count was 10.

Great job, Josse! That is a smokin' time on a long course like that! What is your 5K PR?

And you know I'm happy about all those "points" for the FRB women's team. :)

Awesome time on the 5k !!! Way to chick those guys too! (I'd kill for a time like that)

Good job Josse and nice work chick'n all those guys! I'm glad to hear your ankle was kind to you as well. Maybe you're just about passed this whole injury thingy.

This comment is really from me. Jed would be proud of you for finally running a 5k again. I haven't run another 8k for about the same amount of time. Just stay away from those 10x800 meter workouts!!!

Where was your cross country race held, and how many people did you get to show up? I think that sounds like a fun thing to do for a stake or region activity. Way to chick some of those guys!

There were about 90 people, which I thought was great for a church thing and they only gave us 2 weeks notice. I finished with 10 guys in front of me, mostly little cross county boys. It was alot of fun. I had to twist the other girls on my team arms to come run with me but they also had a good time. I think Jed the reason I haven't ran that distance for a long time, long story.

Good work! How much effort did you put into it?

From sarah on Mon, Nov 05, 2007 at 23:29:17

your entry made me laugh....we are all getting big heads with this chicking thing I think but it is really fun.

From josse on Tue, Nov 06, 2007 at 09:41:46

Sasha- I would say I could have pushed myself alot more but I didn't what to run to fast at this point yet. About 50-60% I would say. I could comfortably talk and was able to make surges to pass easily. My goal for the 5k is to get a PR this year as well as the other distances.

Sarah-I know, I just think it's funny.
