Personal:

I am married with 3 lovely children 26, 18, &12and a dog named Koda and a cat named Blue.  Love to run and be outside.  I believe that if you think you can do it and you work hard enough any thing is possible.   Life flashes by in the blink of an eye, enjoy it while it last and remember there is a lot more to life than running. I coach high school swim and love it!

For this week I will probably do right around what I did last week.  One more low key week before I start cranking out the miles for St. G.  I also promised my self I would start back with the weights after Ogden so I would like to do this at least twice.

*Just thought I would put in here what I did before Ogden to stay injury free.  1-daily stretching, I do at least 15-30 mins of stretching before I go to bed. 2-I get regular massage (every other week, I would get one evey week but don't have time) and chiropractic work  done (about 4-6 time a year).  3-I scrape my legs when ever I feel a twinge and after my long runs just to clean them out.  4- I don't ignore anything 5- I take a recovery week every 3-4 weeks ei. I cut my mileage down so I can handle higher mileage.  6-I eat extreamly well.  7-one more thing I forgot is I get more sleep than I use to (7-8 hrs instead of 5-6 hrs)

Wtihout all this I don't think I would have been able to run mileage into the high 70s without some sort of injury.  My best advise is to listen to your body the FIRST time.  It always gives you warnings (this is even hard for me all I want to do is run, run, and run some more.)

How long are your massages? I just had a 2 hour one (my first ever), but certainly could not afford it often.

I do trades with a friends this really saves on money:) We do about 1.5 to 2 hours a piece. I feel extreamly lucky to have her. I had to go to someone else (and pay for it) before the marathon, because she had some family things, and it was just not the same.

Although scraping my legs once a week us just as good as a massage.

Josse, what is "scraping my legs"?

Thank you for taking the time to post this. I'm new to the blog and loving all the information I'm getting. I've been a fairly non-serious runner for almost 30 years now, and as I get older, staying injury free is a big concern of mine. It keeps me from pushing harder because I don't ever want running to end--especially to careless injury. Thank you!
