Personal:

I am married with 3 lovely children 26, 18, &12and a dog named Koda and a cat named Blue.  Love to run and be outside.  I believe that if you think you can do it and you work hard enough any thing is possible.   Life flashes by in the blink of an eye, enjoy it while it last and remember there is a lot more to life than running. I coach high school swim and love it!

So I am left with mixed feeling after today's run.  It was hard but all in all I did ok, but was super tired at the end.  Legs just felt tired form the begining.  I was wondering if I was going to make 15, but after about 7 they started feeling ok, but shoulders where all crampy and tired the whole run.  So I met McKenzie at Wills and we met Julie on the trail and ran up the canyon.  Julie decided we were to slow for her and took off,  I would have to if I were in shape.  So it was me and Mac, we saw Paul and I called him Tom opps, sorry.  Then when we started up South Fork Mac pulled away from me.  She also kick my behind on the way down.  I think I stayed with her until about Canyon Glen I just couldn't hold her sub-7 pace.  but  I did manage to stay under 8's from 12 on, with 3 being pretty good.  Miles 13-7:08, 14-7:11, 15-7:25 and then I pooped out but not bad.   I stopped and got a drink with 3 left and saw Julie again, was happy to have someone to run with again.  Then she turned at the mouth of the canyon for home so last 2 on my own again.   I don't think I want to put myself through a marathon yet.  But I think this every saturday and then during the week I think well maybe I would do just fine.....I don't know.

ok the shoe counter is doing something weird, it is counting my mileage as double.  I put it in and it counted it once but did not show up at the bottom so I put it in again and it showed up but counted it again, so I erased it and it is count it but not showing it in the box on the bottom so-Asics 1140-18.5

You could do the marathon and finish just fine in definitely under 3:45 or so it is just a matter of whether you want to race it. Racing it as you know puts your body into a different need. You have it in you but do you really want to right now? or just use the race as a good training run, start off easy then do a great second half tempo run. Sometimes I think if I would just slow down I could finish a lot more marathons. I just have too lofty of goals. I too have thought about this race, but only to break 4 hours because I have to work the night before and hey I just pushed myself. But I know how you think because I think that way a lot too. If I got going in the race I will probably begin to race it. We runners are just terribly insane. How about just running the 5K in Springville with me and help me break 20 minutes?

I don't think I would be able to break 20 mins myself, 5k's are not my thing. If I ran UV it would just be for fun and not a race. But knowing myself I would try for a half way decent time and blow up in the end. I think I will decide last minute. If I don't do UV I will do the Provo 10 miler.

I know its driving you crazy to not run UV. I felt the same way about Ogden. As I talk to you about NOT racing UV I get tempted to do it also. My will is strong and I'm holding out. It's like when you want to whole candy bar but only take 1 bite and it's still sitting there waiting for you to finish it off...just walk away !!!!! everything is related to food in my world! HAHA

I'm thinking that you could easily run UV at somewhere around 8:30 pace, but it would be challenging to run it sub 8:00. So it gets down to the run it as a training run vs. race it. You could definitely do it as a training run, but I appreciate the tendency to try to do the best you can in a race instead of hold back.

Wow Josse! your looking good. Dont get caught up in the moment. That is my problem I get into coming back to hard or over disciplining myself. Youll be fine. I really would like to do UV myself. I have WBR the week after so thats 2 marathons in 2 weeks. (or similar) Ill have to hurry and decide quick. keep up the good work.
