I am married with 3 lovely children 26, 18, &12and a dog named Koda and a cat named Blue.  Love to run and be outside.  I believe that if you think you can do it and you work hard enough any thing is possible.   Life flashes by in the blink of an eye, enjoy it while it last and remember there is a lot more to life than running. I coach high school swim and love it!

I decides 2 days ago to switch to the full marathon. I didn't want to keep training for another in a month. and I really needed to figure out my fueling needs. my goals for today was to run by feel meaning only have overall time showing, figure out my fueling needs and if possible run fast. I didn't really run the time I wanted but the course was a beast (lots of uphill like veyo x2 and nasty head wind most of the way. and once again warm temps.

I tried a totally new fueling plan which I think worked well, I did't bloat up and get sick from gu. I used s-caps by succeed, took 2 power bar gels and a half gu rocktain, put liquid calcium in with zipfizz and 2s-caps in a flask. I really liked it all except the gu I wish I had more of Gus other brand.

As for the race I didn't pay any attention to my time or pace, I would look at my overall time once in a while but that really means nothing to me cause I'm so horrible at figuring times out while running. I didn't feel great and had some rough spots but overall I'm satisfied. I did shut down the last two but I honestly felt like I was lost, you turned on the river path (going up) and I couldn't see anyone so I slowed way down to make sure the guy behind me turned the same way plus my sciatic was killing me by that point. He did but I had slowed so much I couldn't get anything back. I finished and Ericka and Walter told me I was 3rd and got 100$ for that. Ericka was great and cheered me on along the way, love that girl.

Thank you for coming over and introducing yourself. Congratulations on your finish! Now that's awesome! It really is a tough course and yes, the hill to the mine is MUCH worse than Veyo! Great overall race today!

Nice work Josse!! I was SO excited to see your overall finish. I love it when the butt kicking is done by amazing people!! Way to take on that brutal course and kill it. Especially figuring out what works when you run, that is probably more valuable than the $100! Okay, maybe not, but still. Congrats again on an awesome race Josse!!

Wow, I think this is a great time for this course. And you didn't lap you watch or watch your pace? That shows great restraint. Now you can rest that sciatic. Are you going to try all the other gels? Miss you!

Josse you are just awesome! The fact that you just jumped in on this 2 days before the race is just so impressive and says a lot about your character. I am so glad you figured out the fueling and held everything together despite the terrible winds.

Congratulations!

Thanks everyone you are all so sweet.

Yes Michelle I didn't want to worry about my pace, the purpose of this marathon was to try a new fueling plan I really liked the s- caps and power bar gels I used. the s-caps are suppose to help with digestion so you don't get bloated and sloshy thus getting sick and dehydrated. I didn't have any I that which I have had in last several marathons. Now I just need to be able to push through the pain that comes with distance for me. I also need to learn to be happy with what I'm able to do. that one is hard for me:) I miss you too. can't wait for next summers visit.

Nice race Josse! That fueling strategy is so tricky - glad you got closer to figuring out the best way for you.
