Personal:

I am married with 3 lovely children 26, 18, &12and a dog named Koda and a cat named Blue.  Love to run and be outside.  I believe that if you think you can do it and you work hard enough any thing is possible.   Life flashes by in the blink of an eye, enjoy it while it last and remember there is a lot more to life than running. I coach high school swim and love it!

Pretty good race for me, I wish now looking back at my split I would have been faster/mentally stronger at the end but I am happy.  A pr for me so can't be to disapointed.

Warmed up with Michelle and James 2 miles, got to the start at it was about to start and we still had to get rid of our warmups.  Started the race and could really only see about 20 people up ahead of me, not bad.  The first 3.2 are a really fast downhill and then it flatens out on the river trail and is a very gental downhill.

1-6:18

2-6:32

3-6:26 feeling really good with this

4-6:36 flattens out here and this usually kills me but I still felt good

5-6:41

6-6:35 (39:08 faster than the tempo I did a couple of weeks ago)  feeling pretty good still

7-6:38

8-6:55  I guess this is where I started to struggle or lose focus because I wasn't that tired

9-6:57 now I am starting to get tired just want to keep the pace under 7's

10-6:55 (1:06:33)

Course measure .1 long for me did that in 31 sec.  See why looking back I should have pushed alittle more, I really think I could have but stayed under 7's so happy about that and I can tell the training is paying off.

Cooled down with amazing Michelle (1st place overall womens) and easy 5.  We ran back to run her hubby in and yelled at him like no tomorrow to pick it up and he responded well we got him in under 1:20.

Great race and a PR too!

From MichelleL on Sat, Jun 14, 2008 at 14:26:19

Great performance Josse! A big congrats on your big PR! We'll have to get Sasha's input on how to convert this to a 10K, marathon pace so we'll know where we are. It was so fun to hang out with you.

From Jody on Sat, Jun 14, 2008 at 14:30:52

Congratulations on a great race and a PR!! That is fantastic! Go Celebrate.

From mattk on Sat, Jun 14, 2008 at 14:44:39

Nice Job!! It must feel good to get that confidence-boosting race, given that you haven't been feeling the best in your runs lately.

From marion on Sat, Jun 14, 2008 at 14:55:45

Nice Job Josse! Congratulations on a new PR!

According the the McMillan running calculator this puts you at a 1:29 1/2 and 3:07 marathon, a good place to be at this point in your training, I think.

Good run - way to get those last few when you are mentally and physically tired under 7!

From Andy on Sat, Jun 14, 2008 at 15:40:35

Way to go. You get better and better every race that you run.

From Jon on Sat, Jun 14, 2008 at 16:02:40

From Maria on Sat, Jun 14, 2008 at 16:20:54

From Hayden on Sat, Jun 14, 2008 at 16:51:44

Hey i have a question Sasha told me to ask you. My calves are hurting me a little and are pretty tight after the Summer Games yesterday. Do you know of anything that will fully recover them quick. Good job on your race too.

From josse on Sat, Jun 14, 2008 at 17:04:59

Hayden-I would get them massaged out and be icing them as well. And when I say massage I mean DEEP. I know Steve form the store knows someone good in SG. Go to her she knows what she is doing (I think her name is April). You can massage them out yourself but it won't be as affective. Stretch them as well, they should loosen up after a couple of days but if they don't do the massage.

Hey wait to go Josse! That is a great overall avg pace and your placing in the top 5 is awesome too! Wait to push through on the last few!

From Lybi on Sat, Jun 14, 2008 at 17:14:47

Great job, Josse! All under 7, way to go!

From amber on Sat, Jun 14, 2008 at 18:45:26

You are so awesome!! Way to go! Now, did you and Michelle have any pancakes from Maglebys? I have a friend that does that race just to get free pancakes at the end! What were the awards like? Last year they gave out pictures of the Provo River Trail guy. I would rather get a medal! :)

From josse on Sat, Jun 14, 2008 at 18:47:47

Amber-No pancakes for me (sugar and white flour are something I don't eat) But they smelled great. We got a picture as well, my sister has it so I don't remeber what it looks like. I did eat some great tasting apples and oranges.

From cody on Sat, Jun 14, 2008 at 18:50:17

Its a "Year of "PR's" for you!!!

From amber on Sat, Jun 14, 2008 at 18:59:43

From Christi on Sat, Jun 14, 2008 at 19:11:55

Wow- look at all the comments you have already! YOU ROCK! Congrats on a killer PR! (This race is one of the things I miss about living in Heber)

From James on Sun, Jun 15, 2008 at 02:29:23

The course was long for me too. I noticed the first mile was long, then they seemed all close. You might have run some bad tangents like I did!

Very good job today! Always fun to see you. I'll come run with you sometime soon.

From jtshad on Sun, Jun 15, 2008 at 09:22:06

From Lucia on Sun, Jun 15, 2008 at 17:59:57

Congratulations Josse! You rock!

From Jonathan Crampton on Sun, Jun 15, 2008 at 19:23:48

Good Job Jossie. I need to pull up my splits too. Just finished listing all my marathons on my blog, better not put all the 1/2's, 10k's, 5k's as I have four pages of races single spaced. I could have bought a boat with all that race entry fee money, eh ?
