I am married with 3 lovely children 26, 18, &12and a dog named Koda and a cat named Blue.  Love to run and be outside.  I believe that if you think you can do it and you work hard enough any thing is possible.   Life flashes by in the blink of an eye, enjoy it while it last and remember there is a lot more to life than running. I coach high school swim and love it!

Lonley, cold, early run about 9 degrees.  Just ran easy with no watch.  then I came home and did 20 on the bike.  I can't tell if I am going to get sick, but I am doing everything in my power not to.

After I read your comments, I read yours from yesterday. My goodness you are an awesome runner. I am a neophyte. I really have no idea what I am doing. I am an old guy (53) who decided to run a marathon before I got too old to do it. I chose a loca marathon and started reading on the web. I had been runing 5K's for a years, but really had no clue about what it would take to run a marathon. I discovered the race I intended to enter was a Boston qualifier, so I set that as my goal. My qualifying time was 3:35. I barely made it after starting too fast and just hanging on at the end. Oh well...I guess we learn by doing. Your discipline and dedication is pretty amazing to me. I can't imagine running in single digit weather. I hate to run when it's below 30! I run about 45-50 miles per week. Usually I run 10 miles 3 days a week and then a longer run on the weekend. Right now that's 18 miles, but next weekend it goes up to 20. Any suggestions?

SMQ- just be consistant. Boston is a wonderful experience but you usually don't PR there. So just get in some good training, I would do some hills, and enjoy the greatness of running the Boston Marathon. I think that is great you did it on your firt time it took me 5 or6 tries to qualify.

My mom started running marathons at 55 and 8 year later she has done many marathons, boston, and two 50 milers. It is never to late to start and continue to improve, you may just not have as long but I think you will suprise yourself, expecally if you stay on the blog. You tend to be more consistant when people are watching your every move:)

Wow, that is so inspiring about your mom. That is the whole trick to enjoying your whole life (aging)--keep becoming better and better. Take up new things, improve in others etc. I learned to swim when I was 24.

Let me just tell you right now, YOU WILL NOT GET SICK! I forbid it. You are going to go have a great race and PR on Sat. I can feeeeeel it. :)

Lybi that is very sweet but remeber I had sugery 2 months ago and I have only been running a month so I am not really expecting much. But if I feel good I will try to better my time from last year. Are you coming?
