Personal:

I am married with 3 lovely children 26, 18, &12and a dog named Koda and a cat named Blue.  Love to run and be outside.  I believe that if you think you can do it and you work hard enough any thing is possible.   Life flashes by in the blink of an eye, enjoy it while it last and remember there is a lot more to life than running. I coach high school swim and love it!

Got up at 7am and went an easy 3 with the dog.  My back didn't hurt, I guess how I will do it is if my back (siatic)  hurts I won't run and if it doesn't then I will.

I'm so sorry to hear that your back is still at it. I'm telling you, that stuff takes forever to heal. There must be something to learn from it. Have you had an MRI? Healing takes so much patience!

From josse on Fri, Nov 21, 2008 at 09:55:29

No I haven't had an mri. I have been going to Dr. Brady. He says my siatic nerve run in a crazy place and my glutes and hips take to much of my load so it is a matter of retaining my muscles that support the knees and ankles to do more work. I am getting orthitics to help my body retrain. I also am working back in my strenghth training stuff back into my rountine. I haven't done that stuff for a year and didn't have this bad of an issue for all the years I did do my back and ab excersises. I don't know why I stopped (before I started doing them I had this bad of problems). Too much running I guess. Balance is the key, right!!

Balance. It's true. That's why I think yoga is magical. It does get you to balance your mind and body. I'm trying to find a balance myself in many ways. Do you ever go to It's Yoga? I haven't been in over a year, but I think I'm goings to start back up. My practice at home is lacking a bit.

I had the same problem. When I concentrated on doing core exercises and stretching, I was fine. When I backed off to do more running, I started having glute/hamstring problems again. Some of these guys on the blog seem to think the only thing that helps running is more running; I think there should be more emphasis on getting stronger, especially in the core area. It does make a difference. It's like you say, balance! And yoga is great, it makes a big difference with me.

I use to teach yoga so I just do it at home. I use to take from a great lady who taught at UVU and BYU. But the class got to big and like it small and personal.

It is true that certain one think the only thing to fix a injury is to run more. I got to caught up in that this year and am paying for it now. We must keep each other in check and stay with what we know works.
