Personal:

I am married with 3 lovely children 26, 18, &12and a dog named Koda and a cat named Blue.  Love to run and be outside.  I believe that if you think you can do it and you work hard enough any thing is possible.   Life flashes by in the blink of an eye, enjoy it while it last and remember there is a lot more to life than running. I coach high school swim and love it!

Got up and met with Marie for an easy run.  Felt good but scaitic was sore after.  Went to Dr. Brady today, he worked it and watched me run.  He says I am leading with my left hip to much and need to retrain myself to lead with my right and then keeping them in a nuetral position.  Easy to say hard to do, but will really work on it.

I also did yoga and abs/back

Sorry its not going away. I think it's a sign ;)

Did you ever do that apple fast? And if so how did it work for you?

From josse on Wed, Dec 03, 2008 at 18:18:39

That is what I am beginning to think. IUD comes out on the 9th.

From josse on Wed, Dec 03, 2008 at 18:21:27

I did do the apple fast. And I am not sure what I think of it. I felt really crappy for a couple of week after, but I got a bad cold. I don't think I would do it again. I don't like starving myself. Maybe some other sort of cleanse that you can still eat normal food on.

OK, more info than I needed*

From josse on Wed, Dec 03, 2008 at 18:26:39

That info was for Michelle and didn't know you had posted when I posted that, sorry. I didn't think anyone payed attention to my blog but Michelle anymore.

Sorry to hear about that Josse. I wish only the best for you; in regards to running, sciatic and the IUD, ouch!!! Good luck with all of that! Take care :)

IUD's are bad news. My sister had trouble for years before she knew it was the IUD. Josse, I'd love for your to teach me a 30 minute yoga thing. In fact, we could get a line up of bloggers whe probably should be doing the same thing. I'll bet a lot of your sciatic nerve and lower back issues will clear up (minus the copper), but I'm serious about the my Uncle if you want to try the quack-o-practer. I never let him adjust my neck, but I always have him help me with my lower back. Especially with sciatic, he's helped me alot. Just say the word. Once you have your bloggers who need yoga class set up, let me know. Better yet, YouTube it for us!

I don't know, I vote for IUD's hands down.

From kellies on Wed, Dec 03, 2008 at 19:56:22

I am with you Michelle, I have the marina and absolutely love it!! Sorry to be so honest, but it's the truth!!

From josse on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 10:20:51

Luz I am actually with you on this, even know I love that I don't have to take birth control, I was allergic to my iud for years and had really bad cramping for a long time. I finally got desensitized to the copper and the problem has been better. I really appriciate the offer but I have 2 differant chiros I go to and they have helped a lot. The yoga I have worked back into my routine and think the world of it as well. It is really a matter of teaching my body to run right. I seem to be twisting my hips to the left, thus pinching that left sciatic. If you want to come over on saturday (anyone is welcome) we can do some yoga, just let me know:)

From mckenzie on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 21:06:09

I've had IUD's 3 different times and have no complaints. Dr. Brady had me run too and had some good suggestions, but the truth is that when I run I'm too busy talking to think about changing my form. I'm so sorry your still injured. I agree with Michelle, maybe it's a sign!!!

Glad part of the problem will be dealt with on Dec 9th. This may sound hokie but just before the SGM at the expo a woman selling the cream that has natural smells in it approached me. I complained of major sciatica in the left leg/buttock (not good timing, of course). She talked of body, mind, spirit connection for a bit and how if we are under any stress (financial, family, the list goes on) we hold it in rather that releasing it. I don't know you enough to say what stress you may be under (neither this lady to tell me, but she seemed to pick it out real well it was hokie) but she told me to "release it to the light" (kind of like yoga mantras). I don't how it affected me so (her talk) but my mind is powerful (not that it was all in the head because I truly felt a lot of pain and still do,elsewhere, no sciatica) but I am trying to think of something that may help you because I have skipped weeks reading your posts and then read yours again and feel bad for your experience right now. Sure the change of your foot lead will help but so will nutrition (I think I have read how you are a healthy eater, but maybe there is one you are missing like magnesium or vitamins D and E, or lack of good sleep, do you sleep well? Don't read my post lately I am working nights not good for the body spirit or mind). But some powerful antioxidants in the form of food will help best (fruits and vegetables, with limited processing or those in season right now, very little if at all meat, fish good). I am still learning even after years of being in the medical field but I am more apt to follow the homeopathic route than the medicinal quick fix. Hope this helps.

Julie I know that lady you are speaking of and think the power of the mind is great. And also think that stress does pay a big role, I have had some major big stress with some of my siblings. I have been doing yoga, but more focusing on the stretching/streaghthening part of it. So I will pay more attention to the mental aspect of it as well. I do eat really well, but have not been as good with it since the marathon. Can't be perfect all of the time. It is still a good diet though. I am getting more sleep than I usually do because I am not getting up and running as much. I mostly just think it is from all the stinkin miles I ran this year. The body just needs a break and when we don't take it it will force us to.

Mac- I have worked on numerous form fixes over the years and it is hard but worth it in the end. I find it is easier to work on them when you are running alone on a treadmill, not the funnest.
