Personal:

I am married with 3 lovely children 26, 18, &12and a dog named Koda and a cat named Blue.  Love to run and be outside.  I believe that if you think you can do it and you work hard enough any thing is possible.   Life flashes by in the blink of an eye, enjoy it while it last and remember there is a lot more to life than running. I coach high school swim and love it!

Everyone seem to be healthy again, took my dog on the trails.  Great morning for running in the mountains.  I have this crazy notion that I want to run the Ogden marathon,  I know I shouldn't and haven't really trained for it but I think because I signed up for it I want to run it.

That is a crazy notion, but I have no experience with running through pregnancy, so I don't know what to tell you.

double nooooooo!!!! Why don't you change to the half? I think you can do that, you have a good excuse!!!

I really don't think i will, I just think it is crazy that I even am having the thought. I would like to do the half but I don't think they allow you to switch, I will call and ask and if they don't will just get on a half bus that morning.

Josse, how far along will you be? If your doc clears you for it and you feel good, I think you'd be okay. Maybe not great, but okay. For me, I just have to remember to push aside runner's mentality of 'push through pain' and listen to my body. The biggest issues my doc has talked to me about is dehydration and joint injury. The marathon will push your dehydration levels, so you'd REALLY have to watch that and take it easy when needed (and probably make more potty stops than you're used to). I guess dehydration can induce labor, so that is the biggest worry. The joint injury would just be training, since tendons and ligaments are relaxed during pregnancy it increases that risk. But, if your training is there, then it shouldn't be a problem.

You are MUCH more experienced with pregnant running, but that is my two cents. I think running the 1/2 is much less stressful and worrisome. To be honest, I'm jealous that you can even consider doing the full right now. I wasn't even 'back to walking' from my SF at 19 weeks! You are an amazing lady!! Being pregnant and running is such a different mind set for me it's REALLY hard not to try and push myself. Keep up all your hard work and be smart - it's your body and you know it best!

Rad-I have always been against running a marathon while pregnant, esp. for me because I do have a tendency to dehydrated. Plus my hubby is totally against it. I did call the marathon office and they told me I couldn't switch, they stopped doing that at the end of feb. But I did send them an e-mail back then and told her that. She said she would look into it and get back with me.

I just miss it and want to run one. I think a half will have to be good enough.

There is only one woman I know that actually runs almost as fast pregnant as not. Melanie was ONLY 1 minute after me when she ran Speedy Spaniard in 2008 39 wks pregnant with a time of 46 minutes. and she ran the Antelope 32 miler 24 wks pregnant. Seriously, she even beat me at 37 weeks pregnant at the freedom run. Granted I wasn't as in shape as this year or last but a very pregnant lady passing me is about all I can take : D. Josse, you know Melanie, her body never got sick pregnant. She was like superwoman pregnant. You and I are the very similar pregnant, nausea gross feeling and massive tiredness...Soooooo you are doing sooooooo well right now. A half is sooo doable for you just nice and easy 9 minute pacer. : D I bet they'd switch you races.

You would be 23 weeks along right?

Yep

Even if they dont' let you switch. I would just hop on the half bus, and not put on your timing chip.

I was lol when I read this post. You are so tough girl! I think you can totally do it if you are smart about it and run a very conservative pace. Otherwise we will all slam the OM race director with emails and phone calls until they let you switch!
