I coach high school swim and love it!

Oh not a very good run today.  Took the dog out for an easy 4 miles at 1.5 into the run I had to go to the bathroom and there was no waiting.  It is hard to find a spot with a dog, but I did and thought I would be fine.  After another mile it came back and it was a painful rest of the way home.  Plus I got a massage and so I felt tired and beat up.  I hope the stomach thing was just my breakfast not agreeing with me.

Got to sleep in until 7 am at  Marcie's house.  We got up and met Clyde at the SG running center and dorve up to the start of the marathon.  We ran the first 1.5 out and back to get the feel of the first and then also drive the coarse to see what is in store for tomorrow.   I feel extra calm for some reason, usually I am a wreck the whole week before, but I will take it.  I am excited though.  Can't wait to see what the day bring for everyone.  I wish everyone well in the race tomorrow.  BELEIVE IN YOURSELF!!!!

Rough day for alot of us today.  Wind, rain, and cold temps made for a miserable day.  Legs just really did feel great form the get go, but like every year, they just felt very heavy after Veyo.  Felt good the first 6 and last 6 but just wasn't my day and I am ok with that.  I still PRed by a few secpnds and by 4 mins in the race.  (will add more details later)

I stayed at Marcie's friends cabin up in Pine Valley the night before and slept pretty good.  Had some really crazy racing dreams and heard the wind but did get about 6 hours of good sleep (very unusual for me before a marathon).  Woke up at 4:30 and ate some breakfast and got ready, none of noticed the rain until we left right before 6 am.  Bummer and it was still windy.  Drove to the start hoping the rain would let up driving down the mountain to the start, but it didn't.  Waited in the car until 6:10 and then we decided to go to the start.  Warmed up alittle and used the port-o-potties.  Started the race in my siglet, gloves, and a plastic bag to keep me dry;)  that really helped.  Started the race with the leg not feeling that great but wasn't to worried becuase it usually takes them a couple of miles to warm up but I was allready not hitting the pace I wanted-1-7:28,  2-7:22,   3-7:05.  I was running with a friend, Bruce and he was kind enough to block the wind for me through alittle bit.  The next little section I felt decent 4-6:58,  5-7:04,  6-6:34,  7-6:40 But still not hitting the splits I want.  Ok Veyo, this is where I feel like I lose it every year so I just took it really easy 8-8:27,  9-7:54  but could NOT get my legs back after this, very frustrating.  But tell myself to wait until half way and you will be able to run a big negitive split.  Dameron Valley killed my even more 10-7:48,  11-8:23  I can't believe what I am seeing, why can't I get my legs to move?!? 12-7:43,  13-7:21 halfway 1:38  Man o man this is just not what I was planning  and my legs just feel achey and non responsive, but I press on thinking maybe I can turn this around. 14-7:45,  15-7:02, 16-6:58  legs still not responding and I am wondering if this is all worth all my training and dedication, but still press on.  17-7:22,  18-7:10,  this is just crazy and the uphills just keep on coming 19-8:08, 20-7:31,  21-7:02,  22-7:39,  23-7:32,  24-7:18,  25-7:28,  26-7:42 and the last .2 I kicked in at a 6:38 pace and about feel on my face right before I got to the line.   The last 6 I didn't pay much attention to my watch and thought I was going alot faster than I was because I was passing so many people (still had a few pass me as well).  But I was able to keep a consistant effort and didn't feel to bad the last 6miles just really cold, wet and miserable.  As for meeting my goals I felt like I wasn't given a chance to run a smart race because I really didn't get to race it at the level I trained and I was NOT fun conditions.  I did PR in this race and in the marathon.  I didn't break 3 hours so that will have to wait for next year.  No top 10 finish :( but I am OK that I didn't do what I KNOW I can do and Paul T did beat me but that is alright as well, he ran a strong race:)  I did run a little negitive split.

Post marathon soreness has settled in good. I didn't think I was going to be sore becuase after the race my legs felt fine. I am not as sore as I have been after past SG but more sore than I have been after my others this year. I put all my wet clothes in a bag after the race and just took them out and was noticing how heavy they where so I put them back in the bag and weight them on a doctors scale 3 lb!! and that is over 24 hours after the race and not including my shoes which I am sure would have added another 2 or 3 pounds.  Craziness!!!

The next while will be pretty low key for me.  I would love to do another marathon soon to get that 3 hour mark but I promised my husband I would lay low on the racing for a while.  But I do plan on training for a half in Jan.

Did 20 mins on my bike this morning and then decided I wanted to go up on the trails today.  So I took my dog and went up to the Bonnaville shoreline  trail.  It was such a gorgious day out and the temps where perfect.  This is the fisrt time I have taken my dog up on the trail and he loved it, he was dragging me he was so excited.  My quads where sore starting and more on the downhill than up.  But other than that I felt good.  I am going to try and get in as much trail running in as possible before the snow flies.

Road my bike for 35 mins and then took my son in the jogger and the dog for 4.5 really easy around town.  Legs feel good not really anymore soreness in them.  But still plan on taking it pretty easy the next couple of weeks or so.

Got a massage last night with some scraping, legs look beat up.

I decided to review my races and rate them as good, ok, and bad.  I ran 15 races this year and out of that I had 7 good races and could even say 2 of them where excellent.  6 of them where ok race, and was happy with. And only 1 that I thought was bad (which was moab half).  I am glad I did this because I realize that I had a great year.

Got up early, haven't done that in a long time.  I need to get alot done today so that was my only option.  Was going to meet Michelle but she didn't come up to Orem to work so I was on my own, I was tempted to go back to sleep but I was up and already dressed so I went.  Did the CC loop and then took my dog out when I got home for 2 more.  Legs where tired and somewhat sore from yesterday so the pace was alot slower.

Day of travel, no running but lots of sitting.  Son threw up just once this time instead of every hour like last time we came to Cali.

My husband brought his computer so I decided to do some bloggin.  San Diego is beautiful and the weather is perfect, 80 degrees with a cool breeze.  I ran an out and back course form the hotel.  I am sick so didn't feel that great but it felt easy, must be the sea level running.

Went out the same way but I followed some kid that was running on the cool little path along the San Diego river.  He was doing a good clip so it took me a while to catch up to ask him where the path went and how long it was and if it was safe for me to be on.  I ran with him for a while and then turned back.  Still feeling sick but getting better.

Took my dog up on the trails today.  Was beautiful up there but I was very winded, I think from not being use to the altitude.  Ran on a differant trail today parked in the same place but went the other way instead.  It has a steep mile climb and then it is pretty flat up top.

Got up to a chilly morning.  Met with Marie, Rebecca, and Cami this morning for an easy 6 miles then came back and ran the dog for two.  My low back has been super tight and achy sence the marathon and keeps getting tighter and really bothers me when I run.  I don't know what is up with it because I am still streching, maybe time for the chiro.

Went to Dr Brady today and got a workover.  He wants me to take the rest of the week off and see him again on Monday.  All the attachments to my sacrum are so tight it is causing major pain.  He doesn't want it to lead to a stress fracture and either do I so some time off is ok.

Got up and met with Marie and Rebecca.  We did a nice little loop from Maries house.  Then I came home and did 2.5 with the dog.  Went to Dr. Brady yesterday and had the sacrum area worked again.  It was sore but feeling better.  Still not to the point where I can do anything big.

My whole back was killing me by the end of the day yesterday.  I was gong to met withe Michelle and the gang but canceled because my back was really worring me.  I iced it and scraped it the best that I could and had my husband work on it some.  I also took some IB because I just feels so inflamed everywhere (my whole back just felt on fire) ecp. down in the sacral area.  I woke up with it feeling better, definatly not 100% but the pain is less.  I wanted to get in at least 8 a day this week but that is not going to happen and what I have learned about the back is you DON'T push it or is just does not get better.  So I took the dog out for 2 miles and it didn't seem to make it worse.  I also have been doing alot of yoga and stretching.  I just want to take advatage of this beautiful fall weather and spend hours up on the trails, but oh well.

PM did the bike for 25 mins.  Abs/back

Got up this morning with no pain in my back, that doesn't happen very often even when I am not having problems with it.  I wasn't sure if I wanted to run because I didn't want the pain to come back.  But I met Marie, Rebecca and a new girl, Melody this morning.  Marie only wanted a short run because her foot has been bothering her so she just went 3 and then me and Rebecca added on some more.  The back felt pretty good, the best it has felt in a while, it is alitte sore after but not bad.  I had my husband work on it again plus I scraped it yesterday, and more IB.

Got a massage last night, she did a lot of scraping.  I didn't feel that great when I got up this morining.  But I took the dog up on the trails.  Was nice up there.  Back is sore still but I think alot of it is form the scraping.  I am really hoping it will get better soon.  I want to start running some decent mileage, even if it is just in the 40-50's.  But won't make any goals until the back is better.
