Personal:

I am married with 3 lovely children 26, 18, &12and a dog named Koda and a cat named Blue.  Love to run and be outside.  I believe that if you think you can do it and you work hard enough any thing is possible.   Life flashes by in the blink of an eye, enjoy it while it last and remember there is a lot more to life than running. I coach high school swim and love it!

Decided to do this race the Tuesday before the race because why not! I've always want to do this distance but never thought my body would handle it but after having a hysterectomy in March I'm not in constant pain and I felt good after the marathon. My strategy was fuel early and often and I did. I thought I could do somewhere between 10-12 hours but really just was in it to finish. Started in the 6 am group of mostly men and just ran at an easy pace.
Miles 1-20 where pretty uneventful except lots of potty stops which is unusual for me
Miles 20-30 where good but boring had a good time getting to know runners and crews
Miles 30-40 where up hill and brutal I thought I was going to have to walk the last 15 because my ankle was so locked up from the steep uphill.
40-45 where surprisingly good but was fighting side aches so couldn’t go faster than I was
45-50 i stopped for water and ate some food at 45 and stretched my arms above my head and that made me feel like throwing up. Sat and fought that for a minute or so and continued on through wave of nausea. The last mile and a half are an out and back it felt like the longest 1.5 miles of my life! But I finished and felt very happy. My crew was amazing I had only met them that morning and couldn’t have asked for a better crew. It was a husband and wife with their 8 yo daughter and 3 month old puppy!! They were amazing

Great job, especially for a "what the heck" race!
