I am married with 3 lovely children 26, 18, &12and a dog named Koda and a cat named Blue.  Love to run and be outside.  I believe that if you think you can do it and you work hard enough any thing is possible.   Life flashes by in the blink of an eye, enjoy it while it last and remember there is a lot more to life than running. I coach high school swim and love it!

Met with some old friends, Cheryl and Chris and ran on the canal easy.  Was muddy form the storm.  But was nice to catch up.  Dropped them off at 7 and added on more.  Arch was sore but not to bad, iced it when I got home.

Decided I didn't want to do speed work my myself today so I got up to meet Jeff and Sasha at 5am.  I wanted to do 3x2 miles and do a better job than last week.  Started with just ovet a 2 mile warmup and it was very dark.  These ones are down the path 6:35, 6:34 (3:40 rest).  Turn and went back up the path wanted sub-7's becuase I couldn't do this by myself last week.  6:45, 6:45 (5:59 rest) Yes better than I thought I would.  Then the last one we did 1 miles down and 1 mile up and Sasha gave his heart rate moniter to see what my heart rate was doing.  Which took my mind off the pace and I focused on my heart rate and it seemed easier.  6:41, 6:44 really pushed the last quarter to try and get my heart rate as high as I could get it, a 187 I think.  Droped Sasha off at 10.3 and added more.  Ran into Sarah and ran with her for a while and chatted.  I was freezing by the time I finished.

Wore an elastic brace on my arch that seemed to help.  Arch alittle sore after.  Ice and then heat.

I was going to get up and run but my foot was stiff and sore when I got up.  I got it worked out by Dr. brady yesterday.  So I went back to bed and thought to myself I canjust see how it feels when I get up and either take my son in the jogger or go aqua jogging.  When I got up and walked around it felt good so I got ready to take my son out and my husband came home and was able to take my son with him.  Yes!...I didn't have to push him.  Felt good foot a little sore at first but felt good after a couple of miles.  Went to the mouth of the canyon and back from my house.

I had such a plan for todays workout/race that went out the window in the race.  My legs just felt achy and non responsive so I just ran what I could on this hard course.  Pleased with the outcome, not exstatic but gives me confidence to get close to that 3 hour mark at SG.  And the pace felt sustainable for me.

Starated the day by myself with a miles and some bathroom time, then Michelle joined with some more miles and some more bathroom time.  The morning was chilly but great for racing.  Warmed up for 4.4 miles, stretched and started the race.  Legs felt fair but got achy around mile 6.5, the point where I really wanted to get fast.  It just wasn't there for me.

1-7:04 Good comfortable start

2-7:06

3-7:17

4-7:17 1st good uphill

5-7:02  take a hammer gel

6-7:31uphill

7-7:31rest of uphill with some down

8-6:48

9-7:07 just can't get the legs to turn over like I want them to.  Have this deep ache in my legs and low back almost to the bone.

10-7:09

11-7:04 Goal at this point was to get faster each mile.

12-7:01

13-6:52

.1-:31(5:00)

Cooled down a mile with Michelle and had to get home.  All in all I wanted to be faster but it was a great tempo on a hard course.

Foot was sore after the race but feels better after icing it.

One more high mileage week and then taper time:) yaa

Ahhh a day off, it feels so good.  I scraped my legs last night they felt achy all day.  They feel better today, just like I have done a hard long run.  I feel really blessed to be able to run the mileage I have this year and the preformances that I have as well.  Now one more super tough week and it is taper time, plan on 75-80 miles, if I reach 80 it will be the first time ever.

My husband is out of town until this evening so I have to break my run up into 3 today.  First I took the dog and son in the jogger 3, then dropped the dog off and went another 1.77.  Then it was my turn to teach the neighborhood preschool.  After I went out for 4.90 with my son in the jogger and I will have to finish later.  Hopefully not pushing my son.

I didn't get my last run in yesterday because my husband didn't get home until 1 am.

Met Michelle, Jeff, Sasha, and another kid for some speed work.  My watch was out of battery so I just ran my fastest without a watch.  We warmed up for 6 miles and then started I did a just over 2.5 miles (with only a couple seconds rest), 1.5miles , some quarters then a 1000 meter.  No times but a good effort.

Had a massage last night it was great.  Didn't feel great when I woke up this morning bad, bad cramps so I didn't think I would have that great of a run.  Went out by myself after taking my son to school.  Started at will's and went up the canyon.  I actually felt really good and the pace/effort was easy and I had relief from my cramps durning the run.  Just to return when I was done.

I did it I got 80 miles this week and did the big nasty workout as well.  I wanted to do the 4,3,2,1 at MP with 2 min recovery last saturday but didn't feel good enough in the race to do it so I waited until today.

Met Michelle, Tyler, Kellie and their friends at the finish of Hobble and drove up to mile 7 and ran up to the start of that half for a warmup.  It was so dark when we started, luckly Tyler had a flashlight to give us some light.  Took a hammer gel and use the bathrooms at the top and started the workout.  I went off the mile markers and went back up a minute for my rest.

First set 4 miles

1-6:45

2-6:44

3-6:51 Thought I saw a black bear but it was just a black cow up in the trees. Scarded me to death.

4-6:28

2nd set 3 miles

1-6:36

2-6:40  I was headed for a 6:30 in this but when I went over the cattle gaurd I decided to go on the dirt thinking that it just come out on the other side.  Then I noticed that it goes into cattle stalls so I had to turn around and go over the cattle guard.

3-6:53 climb out of the golf course, got water after this one.

3rd set 2miles

1-6:30

2-6:47

4th set 1 mile

6:43 and glad to be done.  This was mile 10 of the course and it is rolling and the legs could feel that.

Ran back up a half mile to get my water and hammer gel and then finished up the course and had to add some more to get my 22 and ended going alittle long.  So happy with this becuase it was a great workout and I did all the MP stuff by myself.

Taper week 1-plan on doing 60-65 miles this week with some fast stuff in there somewhere.

Ran easy today while the kids wherer in school, beautiful weather.  I love running at this time of year in the mid morning, summer seems to last longer than when you run in the early morning.  Did the Temple loop, legs could feel saturdays run but they didn't feel to bad.  Foot is  feeling better, felt alittle on saturdays run but not bad.

Started the day by myself early. Ran loops around timp. park before I met with Cheryl and Bruce. They decided to drive up to canyon Glen and start the warm up becuase time was shorter than we wanted. Warmed up 5.4 for me to the bottom of south fork and started a 6 mile tempo down the canyon.

1-6:49 wanted an easy start and this felt good, lost Cheryl at the end of this mile

2-6:28 with Bruce but he starts to pull away at the end of this mile but this is as fast as I want to go.

3-6:29 Bruce took a bad fall in this mile so I was able to catch up, he poped right back up and keep going even know he was bleeding everywhere.

4-6:27

5-6:48 Bruce agains pulls away at the end of this mile and I just try and stay close.

6-6:41 Last miles was tough and low back was bugging me at the end but happy with the turn out. 39:44 for the tempo

Came home and took the dog out for 2.7 to finish up my 15 miles.

I had a lot of fun reading everyones TOU race reports esp. Allie's.  It is so fun to see people have races like that, it reminds us that they do happen:)

Week 2 taper- plan on backing off to right around 48 or so.  And doing some shorter faster stuff.  I can't believe I can run a # below 60 it feels wierd but will enjoy every step of it.

I didn't get up and run because my husband left early and I didn't want to get up at 4:30 to run sleep is so much more important rught now.  But I also had to do visiting teaching while my son was in preschool.  So I thought I would run after I got done and then finish up with him in the jogger.  When I got done with VT it was poring rain so I drove to his school and had 28 mins to get some running in so I just tried to get as much in during that time, I didn't think I would be able to take my son out because of the weather.  But by the time I got home and feed him lunch it was sunny so I went out for some more.

I got in 3.65 miles in the 28 mins and then a slow 3.4 in 32 mins.

2-6:25 (5:27)

3-6:30 (5:56)

I think I have a hard time getting into that uncomfortable Vo2 max level. I will have to work on that after the marathon and after I recover. But a good work out.

I think I will be forced to take today off.  I came down with the stomach flu yesterday, my daughter and I have been trading it off know for the past couple of weeks.  But yesterday it hit harder than I have had it in a long time.  Spent most of the day in the bathroom and lost about 4 pounds.  Not something I want right now.  But I am glad it is this week and not next week.  I just hope it clears up fast, I still feel pretty bad today and dehydrated.

PM- I was hoping that I would have kicked this by now, but nope still sick. my sister just joined the blog http://ericka.fastrunningblog.com/ I have been bugging her for months.

Ran while the kids were in school.  Didn't feel all that well, last night on my run I had some heart burn.  It contiued into today but was worse and my I was tired.  I am guessing this is all a result of being sick so I just ran super easy.  Took the dog for the first 3 or so and then finished on my own.  Looks like I am in the market for a new watch, most likely another Garmin.  They are nice when you do alot of training on your own.  OK I will admit it I am a Garmin addict:)

Met for Bruce and Cheryl and some other Sojouners for the rock and run 3 mile tempo.  There where 6 of us, we started at Memoral park in Provo and ran up 9th east to the start about 2.5.  This coarse is a fast one, starting flat with some up and some down in the fisrt mile then then 2nd mile is all down hill on 9th east.  The last mile finishes with the last of the down hill but not as steep and the last 800 is flat.  Legs feel great just not alot of spring to them, still getting back my energy from being sick.  But it will be there come marathon day.  Then cooled down 2.5 and came home and took the dog out to total the 10.

tempo-

1-6:20  Bruce starts out sub 6 pace and I hung back alitte, that was to fast for me.

2-6:17

3-6:17 this mile I felt the stongest and was catching back up to Bruce.

total time 18:54/6:18

My son fell out of bed last night and didn't notice until this morning that he had split his chin wide open.  So we went to the doctors and got stiches, his first time.  He was super good while they did it, he didn't cry or move a muscle.

I am surprisingly calm, but excited for the marathon.  I know I have prepared well and also know that races just depend on the day.  I know that it will be tough and am prepared to hurt and push through it.  Can't wait to see how everyone does.  Plan on just running around 20 miles before the marathon and getting good sleep.

The good thing with getting sick and having to take a day off is that I don't feel the foot/ankle any more and have been able to run without it taped:)

Welcome to marathon week where every run feels harder than it should, all the aches and pains come to the surface, and you can stop think about splits.  Don't worry you will do just fine, believe in your training.

Got up not as early as usuall to run an easy 6, did 5 on my own and 1 with the dog.  Run felt hard than it should.
