Personal:

I am married with 3 lovely children 26, 18, &12and a dog named Koda and a cat named Blue.  Love to run and be outside.  I believe that if you think you can do it and you work hard enough any thing is possible.   Life flashes by in the blink of an eye, enjoy it while it last and remember there is a lot more to life than running. I coach high school swim and love it!

Had a good first 10 then kind of died but good for my first race, detail later

A race is always open for good learning experiences, I learned I am not on top of my mental game.  Or wait I already kind of knew that:)  I knew going in this race that I am not were I was last year at this time and mentally I am drained from my past few weeks of Jade being in the hospital.  So all in all this was a good effort with a crash and burn finish, but a reminder that I need to get on top of my mental game and finish stroger in the next race.  I felt good the first part but struggled out of the canyon and just got comlacent with not doing as well as last year.  Probably started to fast but I felt good and was not paying attention to my splits just running off feel, but I kind of knew it was to fast because Rebecca was behind me the first 5 miles or so and seceretly I was hoping that some magic would happen and I would be able to finish as strong as I did last year.  Struggled with icky stomach so I didn't take any fuel in which is not good for me. Did a 2 mile warmup with my ladies and a 2 mile cool down with Angie and Janae and we ran the last half mile in with Ericka.

splits-6:09, 6:17, 6:27, music died 6:21, 6:22, 6:17, 6:27, out of the canyon 6:45, 6:45, 6:49, 7:00 ugg the hill was my doing in, 6:55, 6:50, 6:29 pace for the last .13

so not a great race but not to bad for my 1st half of the season

You looked great when I saw you come in at the finish. I think the first race of every season is always tough mentally (Striders for me) but they should get better.

You are coming back strong from your injury. You did awesome today. It's a long season and I think it will help you in the long run when st George comes around you will be feeling ready to keep going and fresh. You will rock UV w a good taper and less emotional stress. You trained through this race w a big week of workouts and mileage. Thanks for letting me hang out w you it was fun. I will see you in 2 weeks at ogden and I will cheer you in:)

Definitely not a bad place to be coming back from your injury Josse. I'm really proud of you and I know you will get on top of that mental game, you always do.

I will now copy/paste your report...because we had the exact same race.:) I completely understand how it feels to be slower than last year. It sucks! But it is also okay and like Angie said it is still early in the year.
