1st place overall womans in Spanish fork 1/2 marathon, Tristate 1/2 marathon, Death Valley 1/2 marathon, and the Utah Valley marathon (4-12-08)

Personal:

I am married with 3 lovely children 26, 18, &12and a dog named Koda and a cat named Blue.  Love to run and be outside.  I believe that if you think you can do it and you work hard enough any thing is possible.   Life flashes by in the blink of an eye, enjoy it while it last and remember there is a lot more to life than running. I coach high school swim and love it!

I was ordered to take today off from dr Brady, my ankles have been buggin and he worked them good. They feel 50x better. Did new tabata HIIT workout then bike for 70 min

HIIT core then 20 min easy bike

 

Met Marie at 12:30, my plan was to do a 3, 2, 1 mile progressive tempo run starting at MP and get faster. My legs have been trashed from the tues tabtia workout (lots of jumping stuff holding weights) it killed off my legs more than I expected. I also made the mistake of eating to much food before the run, I thought I had enough time but my lunch was in my throat the entire run. It was miserable. So I did the 3 miles @MP (6:50, 6:47, 6:47)and called it good. Marie was there for 8 miles then I added on.

Started at the MOPC and ran down to the lake and back so you get the down then up for Boston training. I have not felt good the last couple days, gall bladder attacks. And just plain tired. Got through the run with the help of Janae, Amber, and Rebecca was there for the first 7.

Came down with the stomach flu yesterday, probably the reason I haven't felt good. It was AWEFUL!!!!

Didn't have high hopes for this run but thought I would give it a go. Warmed up 6.5 then did a MP tempo down the canyon finishing at UVM finish. It was ok. Still tired a having major fatigue plus stomach still bothering me. What's my deal?!? 8 miles@7:07 avg pace, not as fast as I feel I can run but it's what I could muster up. Then slow back to the car.

Hiit

Felt about 85% better on this run:) I was going to go do a tempo in the canyon but Jade was sick so I stuck close to home. Did a 5 mile loop with 1,1.5, 2 minutes x2 plus on another min @5k pace. Checked in and then did 3x1 mile at MP, HMP, and 5k pace. 6:57, 6:49 2 min rest then 6:23.

Man I was hit again with stomach issues last night. Got up at 5 with diarrhea had plans to meet Julie at the the track so I went but didn't feel good so just ran. Ended up running into Hiedi a friend from a long time ago and ran about 5 with her. Then came back to the track  and Julie had finished so I ran with her for a bit more.

I'm starting to think I may have giardia or something, this stomach stuff just won't go away and it is really putting a cramp in my running. Today was  aweful 19.5 miles of misery

11 miles tried some 400's made it 4 before feeling like my body was shutting down. Went and got some basic blood work done to see if this is just a simple thing or not....

8 miles in the MC with no watch wish I could say I  felt good but I didn't. Blood work didn't really help much. I was hoping it would say I was enemic or something that would explain why I feel so bad and have no energy. iron was normal but I had elevated iron % but just slightly. I did say I was dehydrated but could that be the reason for feeling so lousy? I guess I'll work on it (I already drink enough water) and hopefully I start feeling better.

This is not my year for racing:( I have no idea what is wrong with me... It was the same as last race and my speed work lately my right quad gets this charley horse like cramp and it just feel like I'm running with a completely dead leg. This starts around mile 1 so it was a very miserable race. This whole thing is a mistery to me. I'm trying to get my electrolytes up as well as taking calcium, mag, potassium and extra salt. I was hoping that I was going to have a good race and felt good in the 1st mile but it just hits me like a train and their is nothing I can do to relieve it but slow my pace down. I am very frustrated and wish I could find answers but the medical world is clueless as well.  I did have a fun cool down with Amber and my sis, ericka. And I got some new PearZumi shoes that I absoultey loved

HIIT 

My legs are burnt toast but that's how the life of a distance runner goes. I did this same workout a month ago aftet having a bad half so why not do it again? I did them faster last time but still did decent times. Met melody, Julie, and Melanie at TV warmed up 2 miles and then did 4xmile downhill with 1/2 mile uphill rest (which doesn't feel like a rest) RC 2x 6:01, 6:07 quads really dead/tired so have no push in them, MTC  6:04, 6:12. Then back to the cars
